Navyhubby- I have found it very theraputic to write everyday a few times if needed. I use it like a journal! As a mom I know they more she gets from her daughter the happier she will be!!
This group has been so hlepful to me and my son has only been gone...not even a week yet! log in any time and vent or ask for advice...we are all here and expiriencing the same thing you are!! We are all here for eachother!!
Just called my daughters recruiter and got her ship number and division. I feel so much better now there is a way to communicate with her. For any that left on 4/5/11, and have not received their letters yet, try calling the recruiter for their info.
LisaB can you add a countdown clock to this group like the 5.27 group has? It is pretty cool! I am going to download the same thing to my laptop as well!
Navyhubby you should have your formal letter by wednesday. If not wednesday than friday for sure. My sil got her husbands 8 days after he left.
Also check out bootcamp.navy.mil
drop box families then click upcoming graduations and look for her division.
if you dont know her division you can contact her recruiter or just wait til you get the formal letter and everything you need to know will be on it!
Hope that helps.
As for Z's girl it can take up to 3 weeks for the person in your bfs division to get trained to do the mail so you could run into a hold on his letters being sent in. (COULD not ALWAYS)
and as for phone calls they should be getting a phone call around week 3 which is when they get to go to the NEX. Unless they are hurt, or their division earned a phone call you will more than likely not hear from him until week 3 :)
Not yet...for a time line for myself My son left on Tuesday April 5th on the plane to BC, then I got the "Recruit in a Box" on Friday, but no letter as of today.
On the PIR 5/27/2011 group one of the parents had a really great idea to change your VM on your phone. Just in case you miss that all important call from your son/daughter/wife/hubby...whoever....then at least they will get to hear a message from you directly for them!! I thought this was a really great idea!! I changed mine already! I know none of us want to miss it and we are all living for the call, but life happens!!
