Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

We had our first call today from Jamie and he said they have battlestations the night before PIR. It looks like he will be wore out for graduation. He also hinted that he has liberty at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday knowing his Mama is not a morning person! That's ok because Dad is! I had to laugh at him because he said they were marching somewhere last Friday and passed the guys graduating and kind of "growled" at them! They've had an inspection that they failed at miserably and had to two straight hours of Intensive Training in a very hot room. He's lost 10 pounds in three weeks. Yikes! All in all, he sounded great and happy he still has his wisdom teeth.

Good gracious honey, after all that you had reason to cry. My fiancee is in Ship 07 division 205. If you want to private message me with a fax number, I wouldn't mind faxing you the letter. Or I can email it to you as his dad scanned it and emailed it to me. Let me know what I can do.

Too funy Steph!! We're originally from the Chicago area, so yep, that pizza is BIG! We just got our first phone call from Jamie! We really needed that! He has passed his swimming tests! He sounded really good, but did say it was intensive.

Shelly and Claudia: He knows who Ethan is and Andrew!! How exciting!

GoDogs85 - we know exactly what you are talking about! Feel free to talk about Jamie any time! It is fun to hear about all of the kids on Ship 7.

Today marks 21 days in bootcamp. I can't believe I haven't talked to Jamie in three weeks. I didn't think that was possible! Gosh, I miss him and his crazy "Only Jamie stories!!" My son, for whatever reason, always had something crazy going on! Sorry - I guess I just needed to talk about him for a minute with my (as I call them) cyber girlfriends! Because ya'll know how I feel! Thanks!

StephJoey'sMom, check out the Family Guide. There's a discription of Ship 5 which is where the recruits go for processing out. That may give you some piece of mind. On the other hand this may just be a delay for him and not the end of his navy dreams.
Keep us in the loop.

Jess, I was told by moms who have been to PIR that the shuttles are there until 12:00 which gives us plenty of time with our kid and to bring them back to the hotel if they are able to. Now, if your child is a Grad and Go - I don't know about that (whether they can leave the base). If they can't, then a rental car is the way to go! We rented a car for our time there also so that we could drive around on the weekend. But, from what I'm hearing from the pro's on this website, the shuttle makes it easier to get on the base without a long wait.
