Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

MV-Boone's MOM: I just posted a question for you on "BootCamp"...I should have looked here first...and then posted.

My DiL got her first call from my son a few hours ago! It was 10 minutes in length, and she said he sounded wonderful! He's fighting a sickness, and evidently, that is a common thing in BC...he is pushing through, and continuing on! She said he has met so many great people in the BC, and that he sounded upbeat about the whole experience thus far. His PIR is 4 June and he is not a Saturday departure, so we'll have a liberty week-end with him! Just 30 more days until I can get a hug! :-)

Good morning everyone, such good information today. I did get a phone call from my son around noon on Thursday, California time. He had lost 6 recruits from his division. He was doing well. He said he had developed a dry socket from his wisdom tooth but it has been cared for. He sounded a bit stressed but said the night before he actually had uninterrupted sleep. I am feeling very stressed about his next few weeks and his ability to go to Nuke school. Until recently I felt it was a given but the more and more I read I realize almost anything can happen. I have held off from buying the plane tickets because I don't want to buy the non-refundable ones and I will take my chances and if I must I will pay the penalty for rescheduling.

What I have understood is the shuttles drop you off at the gate, and you walk a bit to the hall. After the graduation, you walk back to a circle, and the shuttles are there to take you back to the hotels ($3 per person each way). Cars into the gates go through inspections, and there could be very long waits. Once you park, you still have to walk to the hall...there is walking any way you look at it! :-) I think either option is okay; we're taking the shuttle. In my thinking, let someone else drive us, worry about traffic, and we can concentrate on being excited to see our son! :-)

Rebecca4 i have a question.I have heard that it is best to get a rental car otherwise you will have to tush out after PIR. Is there any truth to this.I also found a shuttle but opted for a rental car.

We're staying in the SpringHill Suites for $89 a night; free continental breakfast, shuttle to PIR, and small kitchenettes.

Susan - I made reservations at the Ramada Inn. It was $68 per night for a family of three. They have a free continental breakfast and a shuttle to PIR.

Yes, his graduation date is June 4 made reservations yesterday so all is set. God willing everything will go well and we will see him then. He is a Grad and Go so we just have Friday with him but told me on the phone he may change A Schools and then I dont know if he will be leaving right after or not so to make sure we will fly out on Sunday just in case he has more time if not we will have to do some sight seeing until Sun.

7223jm I received the phone call 3 weeks and 1 day after he left, I have received 2 letters they can only write on Sundays and I have gotton both letters on Thursday depends on where you live and the mail. We live in California so must take 4 days! My son called me on my cell said he had 30 min to talk, hung up from talking to me called his brother and my husband at work. Keep the faith moms right now that is all we have!
