Just looking to connect with someone out there in the same Div...maybe we can share info?

My son's name is Brandon. He too is going to Pensacola for A school. He will be an engine mechanic so I bet they will have classes together. Isn't that a conincidence? Or maybe they have it planned that way. Probably.

No mail today! ;0(
God Bless you too!
Hi everyone, no mail yet for me either. This is really tough. We had a Memorial Day cookout/my daughters 19th bday on Monday. Everyone in the family brought either a card or a letter for Jesse, and we mailed them all together - 14 letters and cards!. That should get him! He better write back after receiving all that! (also, I heard it is possible that if a recruit gets an excessive amount of mail, they "make them" do extra training. - but, that for such a cool thing, the recruits almost don't mind it. we'll see what happens with that.

We are now thinking of driving to graduation. it would take about 6-7 hours. Not too bad. That way we can bring cooler with food, and my husband can easily bring his fishing poles - it would save quite a bit of money too, and we can also stay with Jesse for as long as possible on Sunday. Still weighing the options.

I know how you all feel. We're in this together! Stay strong and proud! (no news good news, patience etc. - man, this is hard not hearing anything) - mary
Mary n Jesse - what a great idea to have everyone bring cards & letters! That will warm his heart for sure! I envy you only being 6-7 hours away...I would drive 12 hours rather than spend the money flying! ugh...we are looking at over $350 per person (for 3 of us)...plus hotel, etc. But worth every penny to see my little girl in that uniform. Oh, geez I tear up already picturing her! Do you know if we only get that weekend with them? I guess in some cases, they are "grad and go" and they get on a plane within a couple of hours of graduation. What a disappointment that would be...let's pray that doesn't happen to us!

Jetmonkeymom - that's exciting that our kids may be at school together! Yes, I'm assuming they would have some classes together...but then split off for many of them too. It amazes me that A school is only 6 weeks or so...so much to learn! But, I'm sure they have lots more training ahead...on the job so to speak.

I enjoy hearing from you gals and anyone else out there. It's so comforting to go through this together. Hugs and have a blessed day... - Lisa
Hi Jenny! We are 2 hours from Monterey! It's beautiful (you would want to visit there, believe me). I've seen that school many times as we drive by. It looks really big and beautiful. I don't think my daughter has C school...but it would seem logical if they did. Lots to learn! I heard the better they do at A school, the more choices they have of where they get stationed...good incentive! She wants San Diego or Hawaii...I'm good with either too!
I too am hoping and praying for a letter for a phone call. I read on someone's comment or blog that it was 3 1/2 weeks before they got a call. Monday will be 3 weeks for us...and probably you too? At this point, I'll take any kind of communication! God Bless you gals...hang in there! Lisa
FINALLY!!!!! I received letters today!!!!! Jesse put three letters in one envelope, and one in another. They were dated 5/19, 5/20, 5/24 and 5/30. He wrote a lot!! 2-4 pages for each one! I didn't know he had it in him to write so much!

He says it is hard work, and the food is ok. He misses junk food, but feels as though his system is being cleaned out. - all the recruits have terrible, well - you know (gas!).

He ran and marched in his boots and ended up with not only blisters but a huge swollen ankle. The doc put him on LDD (limited light duty) for 3 days. He said if he hits 7 total he would probably not graduate on time. (fingers crossed!) - He was fine after the 3 days of light duty.

His group sounds like they are a little "chatty" and they keep getting into trouble for talking. Jesse did excellent on the swimming exercise! He is having some trouble with the studying part in training, but he said he is doing well with physical stuff, and chores/tasks. He is so happy to have his uniform. He said he misses us all (even his sister!), but he has so much pride in what he is doing, and is looking forward to graduation and being in the Navy on a "real" ship! Hope you all get letters soon! My husband is laughing because I had to tell my "navy moms" before calling family about receiving these letters! - mary
Hi Jenny, still no letter? thank you for the info...it makes me feel better knowing they are all going through the same things. I'm sure it's better now...I hope you get a letter soon. How wonderful that you got to talk to him on the phone! I keep my phone on and with me 24/7 just in case she calls. I hope I can talk without crying! ha ha! well, take care and let us know when you get that letter (or 11 like jetmonkeymom) ha ha!
Hello everyone! I just got 11 letters!!!! My son is so happy. He is saying the same thing about the division having a hard time working together, but they are a nice group of guys. I guess marching is very difficult for them. I am so excited. He said it is rough, but he is going to make us proud! He is friends with everyone. I can't wait for graduation!!!!
Hi there jetmonkeymom! 11 letters!! Yay!! I wonder if all the divisions think they are having a hard time ya know!? My son said that he really likes everyone there too.We are getting there! just about 3 weeks have gone by already, we're gettin' there!
Alright you moms of guys...I got a letter Sat too, but she did not sound happy. I guess there are some "talkative" girls in her div and they keep getting in trouble (getting IT'd or Intensive Training)...she has blisters too. But, she passed her swimming and she too is having some trouble with the memorization--probably because they are mentally and physically exhausted! She did go to church on Sun (this would have been a week ago yesterday) and that really helped. She along with 200 other recruits sat there and cried a bit...God will bless them I know it. She misses us,would be happy to go to Dennys and boy...there is NO privacy. Somehow, I think that part is tougher on girls than boys...if you know what I mean. Anyway, she too has blisters on every toe and her ankle is a bit swollen. Sounds like they are all going through about the same thing huh? Anyway, it was wonderful to hear from her and I hope to get more letters next weekend...she should have gotten ours by now, don't you think? Maybe yesterday. Take care Mom's...we are getting closer to graduation and hugging our little ones again. hugs to you all. Lisa
Hi Lisa,
My son said church was great. He loved it and they sang songs by Fee, a christian group, which he loves. He said that there are many who do attend church and was comforted by this as well. In his letters he said he hates when he messes up, but he will make us proud. He didn't say anything about not much privacy. Boys are strange about this issue. As a girl, I can't imagine being in that close proximity to people day in and day out. I hope they all got our letters. It was so wonderful reading his, I bet it will be good for them, but will also make them feel a little homesick. All for now....Barbara
Hi Barbara--I bet they were in the same service (comtemporary Christian). I listen to K-Love all the time...I've heard of Fee; I like their music (although I can't think of the song right now!) ... anyway, I'm hoping her next letter is a little more upbeat...this was only 2 weeks in when she wrote, so a lot has happened since then. well, take care, Lisa
Hi ladies...
My boyfriend is also in this div, and finally got letters today, as did his mom!!! :) From what he said, it's not that bad physically(he actually said he wishes there was more PT), rather mentally as they scream at you from the time you wake up. He referred to the yelling as annoying. Lol. He also mentioned that their division has been messing up, so maybe that is what took so long for us to get letters. Other than that he mentioned passing the swim test, upcoming PT test, standing watch and upcoming firefighting course. Sounds like he's doing well, although he is less than happy about the food and eating situation, lol. But for the most part, his letters calmed me bit and gave me something to think about until I hear from him again. Also, he asked me to include my work number in case they get a phone call in a few weeks, bc he lost his cheat sheet of numbers we sent with him, so they must've mentioned the possibility of phone calls. His Mom sent a calling card, and if you do the same, make sure to activate it for your recruit before sending it to them. Hope everyone else has gotten letters as well, if not, they will come! Keeping my fingers crossed that they behave, and get phone privileges! Take care!
