Hi Josh's Girl !! Glad you received letters! My son Jesse wrote in his letter, "I am no longer with Josh, Stoney or Kyle, Josh and Rob are in the same unit/div but me and Kyle are in different divisions. I see them in the chow hall but we're not allowed to talk". He also mentioned (a lot) in his letters how his division has been messing up and hopes they can all pull it together. I remember Kyle and "Stoney" from when Jesse was at the airport in the USO office, and getting to know them (at the Cleveland airport). Not sure if your boyfriend is Jesse's buddy. Just wonderin! with how they are talking about messing up (Jesse even said at one point he heard theirs is the worst group), they might know each other (?)

Hi Mary....That would be funny if they knew each other. Josh didn't mention any names so I'm not sure. Either way, I hope they get it together! ;)
Hello Josh's Girl...I am so confussed about the phone cards. I sent my son with 2 pre-paid phone cards and when I purchased them I thought that they were activated when I paid and the clerk scanned them...was I supposed to scratch off the bar on the back and do something with that PIN #? Any suggestions or comments would be wonderful, need to know if I should purchase more and send them to Jordan.
Hi JAGs Mom (my son's middle name is Jordan!) - I didn't do anything with the phone card I bought.Maybe to make the phone call you have to scratch off the bar on the back, (not sure) but...My son must have figured it out because he used the phone card when he called me from the airport to say he arrived after the flight. Hope that helps!
mary
Hi Jags Mom......Usually to activate them you need to call them number on the back and enter the pin, but I'm sure your recruit will figure it out. Just saves a little time for them and more time to talk to us. Lol.
Oh my gosh! My son called today and I missed it! He phoned on my cell phone and my home phone. I left my cell phone in the car for 10 minutes, by accident, and I remembered it was out there and sure enough I had one missed call. It was my son! Everyone carry your phones close by your sides. I don't want anyone else to miss their son or daughter.
My son sounded so sad, I think because he couldn't get a hold of us. He says he is doing fine and that he looks damn good in his uniform. LOL.
I also got three letters. He and his buddy, Joe are rack mates and they passed the inspection #1. Any mom of Joe out there? He also passed his uniform inspection with a 5.0. He said he has learned to pay attention to details.

Hope all of you get your calls. He said he probably won't be able to call again for another 3 weeks. Yikes!
Barbara
I got a call from Megan today too! I lost my phone, of all days! But she called her brothers phone and I had it with me! Thank God!!! She is happy, but says that they are the worst div... Is this just how they trick them? or is it that they really are the worst? She said they will not get to call for another 3 weeks! OUCH!!!!!
But Megan said she and her bunk mate... Winn? get along great and that she has made many friends. She also said she gets almost 8 hours of sleep every night. She started to cry on the phone, which got me crying! She said the letters get her through, that the letters get everyone through... So write. Megan also said she looks Damn Good in her uniforms! It was so AWESOME to hear her sound so good and proud! Do any of you have a daughter that goes by winn, or it sounded like that over the phone?
Do you know where you are all staying? I need to get a couple of hotel rooms, and thought it would be nice to stay where ever all of you are... I do not write much, but your comments are a HUGE help to me!
Thank you!
Big Hug to all of You!!
Cheers!
Molly Megan's Mom!
Hi everyone....We also got our call today but my son couldn't hear me. He was getting so frustrated he was calling everyone and no one was picking up the phone. The only reason I know this is that he left messages on his girlfriends voice mail. Finally got his Dad. He said that their division sucks and likes to get into trouble. They had to earn back this phone call they got today and that it should of been for a hour but only got 15 minutes. He also said that because of the holidays they are on some kind of different schedule and that their battle stations won't be until Wednesday before graduation. Did anyone else get that info? We are hoping that they can pull together if this is true cause we are coming from California and leaving Thursday morning for the graduation. He too said that he wouldn't get to call again for 3 weeks. He did say that he is doing good and passed his swim, run, sit ups and push up test and a classroom test yesterday so that part is going really well and he sounded very happy about all that. He got his dog tags and said that they were really cool. Meeting a lot of cool people and that his bunk mates name was Jankins or Jenkins was hard to understand. He too started to get emotionally when he had to go. He too mentioned to write as much as we can. They love getting stuff from home. Any info anyone can pass along I would appreciate it.
Ben's MOM
OK, I am confused... What is battle stations? What does it have to do with graduation?
Also, why is the div having so much trouble working together? What can we do from home to help? Can we send letters to everyone?
Cheers!
Molly
Hi Molly,
Battle Stations, from what I understand, is like their Final to graduate. You have to pass that in order to graduate. If you go to this link (this is Day 6 of RTC) it will explain what they do...
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navy/l/aanavybasic5.htm
and it has an explanation for each week...pretty interesting.
Thanks for that website. It was very informative.
Barbara
Hi Everyone,
Also got a phone call and a bunch of letters today. The phone call was very short, but he did call his Mom first. Also said he was "fine". It was pretty much...I love you, miss you, I'm ok, repetitively for about a minute. I thought he sounded upset, but his Mom reassured me that he was just rushed and that when talking to him he was most concerned about her finding my number (he lost the cheat sheet I made him bc he's bad with numbers). Also, he mentioned in his letters that their division is less than stellar. They apparently talk too much, don't learn what they're supposed to and mess up at the worst times. And to add to it, they are in the toughest div, bc they have a week less than the other divisions. From what he said, the other divsions have a second chance to take tests should they not pass, but if they fail tests (individually i think) they will be held back a week or poss two. So far he has passed everything, PT and personal inspection, although he did mention his first exam (multiple choice) was coming up. I am very nervous about this bc although he is much more hands on and struggles with written tests. Also mentioned having a cold, but feeling better, which I know from coming from a military family is common in b.c. and usually known as the ric. Possibly the most upsetting thing so far.... is that their div is not allowed to have dessert at chow, while all the other div. are. My boyfriend loves, loves, loves to eat( and is blessed to be able to w/o gaining weight) and I know how difficult this must be for him. Picturing his sad face, as the lady with the dessert cart rolling by, which he described right down to the type of desserts, pretty much brings me to tears just thinking about it. On the phone he said that their div. will NEVER be allowed dessert. :( Other than that he seemed thrilled to get letters, told me to ask questions, and seemed happy that I included info about our favorite sports teams. Just wanted to fill you ladies in, if anyone else has new or different info, please share. Hope everyone is well and that our recruits can pull it together for the second half!
