what ship and div is he in? where will you be flying out of? We are flying out of Sac or San Jose...so far for 3 tickets we are looking at about $1800 just in plane tix! ugh...when is his PIR?
We are flying out of San Jose... did you try flying into Milwaukee, WI? Our first PIR we flew into Chicago, and said I will never do that again. Last was Milwaukee. It was great. Rates were lower, the drive was fab. We are doing the red eye Wed night. Will get there Thurs morn. We will have all day Thurs to play and do what we want. I think our tickes were $570 for 2 (total).
that's a good idea...a friend told me to check into flights to Milwaukee too. I think going Wed night is good as well...thanks for the info!

Lisa
Got our tix...flying out of Oakland into Milwaukee on Thurs and driving down. Thanks for the advice!
We purchased our tickets, just 2 unfortunately and our leaving from Sac on the 8th of July and leaving July 12th. I purchased our tickets through Southwest and our total roundtrip is 1052.00 with no baggage fee. We land in Chicago, not Ohara but the other airport. We are staying at the Ramada Inn in Waukegan. Have not got a rental car yet.
This is going to be a long month.
yes! That's mine! Amanda said the same thing about being the worst Div! They only got 15 mins to call when other divs got an HOUR! She didn't say they get 8 hours though...maybe they are now or maybe Amanda just doesn't know what time it is! She said she didn't know what day it was...so she made a calendar for herself. ha ha! I got the call at 1PM (PDT) and normally I would have been at lunch with her dad, but not this day darn. But I got him on speaker on the work phone and her on speaker on my cell and they could hear each other. She sounded strong and confident...she has such a quiet voice, but I think boot camp will cure that!
Molly (Megan's Mom) we made reservations at the Ramada Inn-Waukegan...tell them it is for the Navy graduation...it was$75/night and they have a continental breakfast and a shuttle to the graduation. They are filling up quick though so call ASAP. Can't wait to meet you.
Where is Megan going to A school? What is her job? Amanda goes to Pensacola for A school...that's where Jetmonkeymom's son is going...he is in ship 13 div 239 too.
talk soon!
Lisa
Thank you for the link... Very cool, and helpful. But As far as the hotel, when I called a woman in India answered and she and I could not understand each other... The call did not go to the hotel in Chicago at all... Plus, my oldest son, Tim, (who is a Diver in the Navy) Will be home TODAY!!!! for 10 days! It is a surprise for my youngest, as its Andrew's 17th birthday. Back to the hotel... Tim is going to get us in the Navel hotel... its really inexpensive too! I think its $45 per night. I would like to meet up with all of you though. Megan will go to A school in Chicago, unless she gets to go NUK, which is what she was doing originally, before they asked her to leave early. But if she did not switch, she is going to be a Fire-Control Woman/person... I think all her schools for that are in Chicago.
I have a HUGE issue/drama, that happened here at home, and I have chosen not to write Megan about it. It would be VERY upsetting to her. So I was wondering if I should tell her the day of graduation, or after, like on Sat? What do you think?
Cheers!
Molly
wow, sorry I missed this...looks like you wrote it awhile ago. These replies don't go in chronological order...anyway, that's awesome that your son is coming home (or IS home now!). I hope the surprise was a success! Oh, I wish Megan was going to Pensacola with Amanda! Maybe they will be stationed in the same place...one day.
Regarding your issue--wow that is tough. I'm with you about not wanting to upset her while she's gone. I have wondered the same thing (like, what if Amanda's dog dies--would I tell her?)...so, if I have touched on something similar...then you know Megan and I don't. For Amanda, it would be extremely upsetting and perhaps take her focus away from what she is doing. I think we get to spend some "quality" time with them after grad (I'm counting on it) so maybe that evening or at some point in your visit like you said...Saturday. :( I'm sorry you have to deal with that...hang in there and enjoy your visit with Tim! :)
Barbara, I'm so sorry you missed that call...I had my phone on vibrate and leave it on my desk...but don't always carry it. He will be okay...at least you have a phone message you can listen too? I wish i had been able to record the conversation...I was so afraid I was going to hang up on her...I just prayed before I hit "speaker" so my husband could hear her and it worked! She too said 3 weeks before they can make another call. It's going to be a long 3 weeks. Hang in there...hugs to you all ladies.

Lisa
The message was so sad. He said he is doing good, but just choked up and started crying. Funny how things happen. When you think you are prepared, and you forget for 10 minutes and miss something so important in that little frame of time. Amazing. I guess we were not suppose to talk.
My family and I are headed up to Yosemite for the weekend and will be passing through your city. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Barbara
oh wow, it should be beautiful up there this weekend! I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been there in many years...Merced is nothing much to look at, but 2 hours from everywhere else which is nice! Just saw your message above about the plane tickets...so looks like we are spending about the same amount; just having to buy one more ticket. And...which one in the picture is Brandon? You have a beautiful family. :) enjoy Yosemite!
Brandon is to the left of me. I am so proud of my family! I finally found the pictures of the party we held in Brandon's honor to post that picture.
