Hope you enjoyed Yosemite?? I got 3 letters from Amanda on Friday! I was so excited! She said how much it helps to get the letters and that we could send a couple of pictures...maybe she forgot what we look like! She was also saying that their Chief told them he had never seen a schedule like theirs--meaning their final exams and Battle Stations are all in the same week that they are to graduate (Tues, Wed & Thurs) and that if they failed something they wouldn't have time to make it up before graduation on Friday the 9th! I don't know if he's just trying to scare them into NOT failing or what...let me know if Brandon mentions anything like that. I've booked my flight (we are leaving out of Oakland, flying to Milwaukee and driving down about an hour to Great Lakes) and would already be there when she finds out if she graduates or not! ugh...I'm banking on the fact that this is a scare tactic and just going on faith that she will graduate with her division! Take care, Lisa
So I inquired about the nights of battlestations, and my resource told me the only nights that it doesn't take place are Fridays and Saturdays (my bad on the wed). Can be on a Sunday night. Up to 4 divisions at a time, depending on the number of divisions graduating. We only have 9, so maybe they will all get done early in the week.
HI all. I got letters today covering last weekend. My son is very up beat. He has become quite the writer. He has met some nice buddies and is enjoying his experience. He said that his lead officer asked him into the office and asked him how he was helping his division, how he was doing on his rack inspections, and then he asked him if he was able to talk to anyone last Thursday. Brandon said he only could leave voice mails. The lead officer then put the phone on speaker phone and dialed our house and cell phones. Unfortunately, we were out of town camping and did not receive the calls. What a roller coaster ride! I am hoping he will get another chance this weekend. My husband and I are keeping our fingers crossed. Only three weeks till graduation!!!!!
I got letters yesterday too! She's doing well and they were learning weapons handling...the 9mm handgun. Unfortunately , she is left-handed so it's pretty awkward for her...everything is set up for right handed users! Oh, well that's just another challenge to overcome. They are taking their tests for that today.

I'm so sorry Barbara that you missed Brandon's phone call again. I'm sure they will give him another chance and how wonderful that they have noticed what a great job he is doing. You have raised a good man! :)
take care--Lisa
Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a while, was at Disney World with my daughter from June 10-18.

Jesse knew I would be there when he got to make the 15 min. call, so rather than risk losing time trying to get me there, he called his dad and girlfriend. It's actually ok though, because I got two letters at home while I was on vacation. I let me husband read them while I was away, just to reassure me he's ok. - And he is.

He is bud's with Brandon and Josh! He said a lot of the same things all of you are saying. He said they are all starting to get over that cold, and he passed his inspection/test on the 10th. He talked about battlestations and a fire drill they did, (not as successful as he had hoped!). He has been going to church, and that has been very comforting for him (he even wants us to go with him on liberty weekend). He is craving his Dad's breaded Lake Erie perch and brownies w/ice cream.

I made our reservations today at the Ramada.

Gonna go for now, and write a letter out to my boy!

HI Mary,

Thank you for your posting. Not much has been going on. Brandon told me in his last letter that they will only be able to mail on Mondays so his letters would be slowing down. I had hoped that Brandon could call this weekend, but no such luck. I am so obssessed with him calling I wore my blue tooth in church today. I had it all planned how I would sneak out during the sermon. LOL. Oh well, we only have 19 days until graduation!
Hi Ladies--isn't it exciting to connect when we know our kids are friends with each other? This is just amazing...Megan&TimsMom's daughter Megan is my Amanda's bunkmate. I mean...what are the chances? And Brandon knows Jesse and Josh! It's going to be so awesome to get us all together. I wanted to share what Amanda said in her letter yesterday...that everyone in Div 239 attends church and she thinks they have the largest div in church service. AND that Div 239 prays together...even with their RDC! She said they share their faith and they talk about how God is helping them through this. She also said that their RDC compared them to the tortoise in the Tortoise and the Hare story...they have improved in their marching (says their Chief) and she said "you have no idea how much that little compliment meant to us." They are starting to work more together as a team...I just feel like God is going to bless this division and they are going to finish strong. I just wanted to share that with you Div 239 Moms...God Bless.
What are the odds? What a testimony. It is exciting to hear that our children's division is so strong in their faith. I agree with your feeling that God will bless them. Can't wait to meet you all. We should be so proud of our children. They are amazing!

Received a few more letters the other day. 3 different dates in one envelope. Somehow, we were under the impression that A school would be maybe 5-7 weeks, but Jesse said in his letter it will be 19 weeks. Guess I have a lot to learn about A school. He mentioned getting his dress whites, and is super happy about that. He is still attending services, and is enjoying that. They are all still gettin' over that cold. He said their brother division is 240. they sleep/hygiene on their side of the building so he knows a bunch of them too. Hows everybody doin? I'm tryin to keep busy. Have grad parties and b-day parties and stuff going on, you guys probably do too. Can hardly wait to go to Chicago though to see him! They have tests to take, and Jesse is nervous about them. Will continue to pray for all of our recruits, they all gotta graduate on 7/9!!!
A side note, there is a good chance that 240 will do battlestations with 239. That is how it worked with my last two, but as usual... I cannot give a guarantee. That is my disclaimer. We will have to watch.
hey there! Amanda got that same bug that everyone is getting...had the chills and "almost threw up"...but is better now. She said next week they do firefighting and the dreaded tear gas chamber...that prob on Wed 6/30. Let's pray for all of them...not fun from what I've heard. but then, none of this is fun! Yes, Amanda too said that going to church has been a great thing...she said almost all of div 239 attends and they have one of the biggest groups there. that made me soooo happy to hear! that is what will get them through this and they WILL graduate on time. Where is jesse going to A school? Amanda is going to Pensacola...take care, hugs to everyone. Can''t wait to meet you all at the Ramada-Waukegan! :)
Any word on BS21?
