I don't think the Navy is about fair; it's about duty. :-) They are all assigned duties, and frankly, I appreciate that he has been given this responsibility. It is all part of learning to be a team, supporting each other. There are likely other recruits who are doing things that benefit my son. We live in a narcissistic culture and I believe the military offers a tremendous opportunity to learn the "it's not about me" lessons.
Mona,
I was saying 'it's not fair' like tongue in cheek, not seriously. I understand they are all a part of a team and what a great thing it truly is to learn that it's not all about 'me'. I truly was not saying anything negative.
I forgot to mention!

My mom gave me the recap of my brother's phone call: he's sick! And it seems like everybody else is, too; his drill sergeant is the short Filipino whom I think I read about in another thread on here - my brother was so surprised at first that the big scary guy he imagined turned out to be a small man with an accent!

Part way through he said that he should probably go because there was another recruit giving him the eye, like he was hoping he would hang up soon, and he was about to do that but then he said "Aww, screw it! I missed my first phone call." (He had his wisdom teeth removed and was out for bit and couldn't call home.) I hope the guy my brother was talking about wasn't any of your sons!
Hi Everyone,

I had the best day ever yesterday my son Andrew call just before I went into the movies & would have turned my phone on silent. He wasn't even sure what day it was but new my birthday was coming up soon then I told him it was my birthday & that he had given me the best present I ever could have gotten. He said he doing better he's been sick & still trying to do everything but when he went to the dntist they told him he was running a fever so he had to take a day or so off, so he missed the shooting range but made it up on Mon. but he said he did ok but he is still a little lite headed & stuffed up. He still has to make up running this week I hope he is at least feeling better for that.

Does anyone know if they got to do the human flag I forgot to ask, I didn't have my question list with me LOL?

My son doesn't say much about his div. & how they are doing as a group does anyone know?

Two more weeks I can't wait We are staying at the Ramada & plan on going to meet & greet hope to see you there.

Hi, my name is Catherine and my son Matthew is in Ship 9 - Div. 228. He had a hard time when he was made "M.A.A." because he was trying to help the other guys in the Div. and was too tough on them, and felt like he was "public enemy #l. Has much less stress since he is no longer MAA. However, he wrote me that he has a knee injury, and may be sent home from boot camp if his injury doesn't improve by July 16th. Guess I'll have to "bite the bullet" and wait for his phone call with good news or bad. He wants dearly to stay in. Hope he can recuperate and recover in time for "Battlestations" . Don't know yet if he will get a medical separation or what. Aloha, Hawaii Mom.
Hi Hawaii Mom,
Glad to have you aboard! I hope so much your son's knee is ok so he can stay in. That has to be hard on him and you. I hope you hear good news soon.
Tammy
Has anyone heard anything from their recruits about BS 21???
