Well, I guess this will be my last post. I was called today by my son, and he is being separated. He apparently started sleepwalking (a trait he never showed earlier, but does come by naturally-dad, brother and sister all do it). I feel so badly for him, he originally was wishing he could come home when he was so homesick, but was really starting to have a good time, now he's done. I do have to admit that it will be good to see him when he gets home. He is still trying to see if he can go to graduation to wish the rest of his division well. They said maybe since it was more of a medical type issue than a bad behavorial problem.
I am hopeful that your son will be allowed to attend graduation. I believe he has earned that right. If he is not able to attend please let me know and I will forward photos of the group and the activities. Also I am O'Dette's mother if he wants to stay in touch I will happy to forward information to Jonathan. It has been nice meeting you and sharing these last few weeks with you.
Thank you. I am planning on keeping my site active until he comes home so I can help him to stay in contact with the guys through you their families. It's so weird, I feel sort of lost right now. He is still in Great Lakes, but I can't follow up on what is going on. I realize now how much I relied on the www.bootcamp.navy.mil website and this site for information about boot camp. No information makes it even harder. My husband and I are still going to fly into Chicago, but will then visit family in Michigan. Joe said they are trying to get things scheduled so he can come home with us, but I realize that they have no way of telling for sure. The time frames I have seen for the separation process is 10-20 days. His is pretty cut and dry though, so hopefully... By the way when I spoke to him on Friday, he didn't mention anything about battle station times, so can't really help you guys with that either.
I'm so sorry to hear about your son being separated, my heart just stopped when I read your story. These kids are so honorable, so pure and so good, it breaks my heart for them to go so far and be denied something they want so much. Your son and your family are in my thoughts. I really hope they let him attend the graduation.
