Rackie (and all other spouses) -- BC is just the start of the separations, but you WILL be stronger for it.  I married a sailor 28 years ago and quickly learned that everything that can go wrong when they are out to sea, will go wrong.  The truck broke down, the truck was broken into, etc., etc.  But you WILL make it through and you will be stronger women/men and parents because of it.  Diannep is right...find other GOOD military spouses (there will be many that are not) and support one another.  Being a BC spouse is just the start of your journeys, but others have taken this road and you will make it.  Congrats on being married to committed SR's wanting to serve their country and provide for their families!  Still, not much support for those moments when you just want your loved one next to you.  That's when you have to rely on God to keep you held up.

Great news, NYRican, on your son's eyes and the phone call!

rackie:  ....sigh....your story should be a movie to encourage people!  What a wonderful start you and your hubby have.  I have no doubt that you will be a STRONG military wife who will be able to support other military wives who may not have your strength at first....congrats to you both for finding one another!  And, there is nothing like holding that warm hand...but it will help when you can be back in SKPYE and phone communication until you are together again!  You'll get there!  As a widowed lady of almost 10 yrs now, I have experienced the jealousy you speak of sometimes with my friends, most all of whom are married and long-term married (my hubby and I for 26 yrs).  But the Lord quickly reminds me that He has me where He wants me right now, and my joy and peace return!  So...no doubt the Lord has a plan for you and "Joel"....He never promised us a rose garden, but He certainly promised not to leave us!  May you feel His peace and joy at the times when you miss Joel the most....

Rackie, I know how you feel!  I'm having a rough day too, still not letter from my DH!  My DH and I have been together for NINE years and married for just over 2 (March 28th)  The longest we'd ever been apart before this was a week!  When he told me last year that he wanted to join, I wasn't looking forward to the time apart at all, but I just knew that it was the right thing.  I really feel like this is God's plan for him, because I have felt pretty at peace with it even though I never thought I could've been a military wife!

My husband and I dated for 2 years before tying the knot, ever since we dated, we're always there for each other, everyday. We are very close. When he told me that he wanted to join the navy last January, I got very emotional.

Growing up from a broken family where I got "shared" between my parents was hard. He was the only constant person in my life. I was scared to get married at first, I had no idea what a normal family is like. But he is always so sure of marrying me. He said, "I'd be your family." Prayed so hard to God for guidance.

We celebrated our first year anniversary just this February 22nd. While on our date he said,"I'm so sorry I had to leave and it hurts me more that I have to leave you behind so early on our marriage. It's the only way I know to provide for you properly. I hope someday you'll forgive me."

No matter how hard it is for me to let him go.. I had to support him. Isn't that what marriage is about?

While I was at our choir practice today, I felt so jealous looking at the other couples holding hands..I know that's not right. I miss that.. I miss Joel so bad! I miss the feeling of his warm hand holding mine... Oh my! this is so hard*..

(*sniff..sniff..)

Love the quote, joel's rackie. Sending prayers that your in-laws may attend PIR. My MIL is coming with us - she was a Navy nurse stationed at Great Lakes in the 40's!

Hi all. Sorry haven't posted but was getting some cvatch up sleep. Spain is 7 hours ahead of San Antone TX so during the 4 days there got absolutely no sleep. When it was midnight over there my body said nope, it's only 5pm. And at 7 in the morning when it was time to get ready for work my body said heck no it's mignight! Anyway, super happy right now cause I just heard my son's voice :)    It was one of those official business calls with regards to his SF 86. He jsut called about 30 minutes ago (9pm) whihc is 10 over in chicago I think. I think a drill must have been next to him cause Jay didn't say anything personal, not even I love you mom, but I'm just happy that I heard his voice!!! :)  And gathering from the comments below, I better get in gear and make my reservations too! OMG :)
