God bless her and her family. My cousin is a Marine, he is also serving in Afghanistan. I know so many people who have kids that are serving, I pray for their safety all the time.

Alan said today he can have civilian clothes. I'm going to put them in the mail on Tuesday.

He said Georgia. I guess there is a Marine base there? He is in a Chevalier Field barracks, which was totally destroyed in a previous hurricane and rebuilt.

Robin, Alan says the weather is beautiful but they have their seabags packed and ready to bug out. They will be doing clean-up after if the hurricane hits. I hope you'll be safe. He has not started school either, although his orders say he'll be on leave 10/17 I'm prepared for that to be pushed ahead. I talk to him almost everyday, it's great. He never seems to eat in the mess hall, always eating junk food. No wonder he lost weight.

I'm glad everyone's keeping up, love to hear what everyone's sailors are doing!

Hi Robin, are you okay there in FL? Kathyrne enjoy your time with Josh. How is your other son doing that's in the Air Force?

I'm assuming our Pensacola sailors lost their weekend liberty due to hurricane evacuation preparations. Boy, that's something we've never dealt with here. I'm praying for everyone's safety. Alan says they may evacuate this weekend to Georgia. He received his package in 2 days, priority mail.

Kathy, I sent one package by UPS and they said no problem. It's going to take a week and it costs more than the priority mail at the post office, but they had to make a box for it (pool cue). The rest I sent priority mail and he got them in 3 days with no problem. If you send it certified, doesn't someone have to sign for it?

Hey Kathy, I sent CJ's package Fed Ex and didn't have any problems. He got it the next day.

I asked my son about food items and he said he didn't know. We'll send them anyway, although they can get a lot there. (Nothing like what mama makes!) Priority mail is much cheaper, although it takes 2-3 days. Alan said no civilian clothes yet, they have to wait until they reach Level II (I don't know what that is or how long it takes). He has weekend liberty, wish I was there to spend it with him.

I sent Alan's priority mail Thursday and he got it yesterday, but I understand they don't get mail on weekends. He had to go get it from the mail room.
