Helen, Matthew is so fortunate to have those memories. My husband's and his father's Navy memories have been lost somewhere along the way and what I wouldn't give to be able to pass those to my son. I was wondering about sending care packages also, my neighbor wants to mail cookies.

I sent Cj his stuff Fed Ex last Friday overnight and he received it on Saturday so if anyone needs to send things, that may be the way to go.

Dana, I think that's great about your son's decision. I wish my oldest daughter would go. I wish we were closer geographically to my son to be able to visit when he has liberty.

Great idea Helen. Alan got to Florida on Wednesday. Being from CA he hates the humidity. He hasn't started school yet and doesn't know when he will. He is getting anxious to start. They are preparing for hurricane evacuations and sandbagging. He calls everyday and I can't tell you how wonderful it is! He misses his bunkmates from bootcamp. He says the food is great.

Hi Ginnie,
Love your new pic. Where is Justin? I think Alan misses his GL bunkmates. He'll get his cell phone in a couple days, I bet he calls them. Alan complains one of his new roommates is messy. I hope they don't get in trouble for it. I can't wait for the DVD.

I heard from Alan 3 times today. Happy Days! He called at 2:00 a.m. from Midway, 8 a.m. from Georgia and tonight from FL. He likes it there, can see the beach and only has 3 roommates, says one is messy. He asked me to send his cell phone, wallet and MP3.
Helen, I think that's great! I'm sure they will give you a copy of the story, you'll have to buy out the newsstand. How exciting!

I haven't heard from mine yet. He was to get orders yesterday to move across base this morning, but we haven't heard anything yet.

Great idea Dana. I'll contact Alan's recruiter as well. When he comes home on leave he will work in the recruiters office. I'll ask him to tell his DEPs. Alan called at 2:00 a.m. PST. He was at Midway airport with a lot of other sailors waiting to go to FL. He was excited to be there. His bunkmate, who is also going to FL is on a 40 day hold at GL. I guess his school doesn't start yet.

We have to mail Alan's cell to him in FL. He couldn't take it with him. I hope he calls from the airport, he was hoping to leave GL tomorrow. What a wonderful weekend, the meet and greet was the best. I overheard someone at the market saying her son was joining and I told her about this website. I'm so proud of all of our sailors, they looked awesome!
