Dana - how exciting! I didn't know they could apply for weekend passes to come home. Is it a 3-day pass?

Hi everyone! So glad to hear from you, sounds like our kids are doing great. Alan will be home on leave Friday then to his homeport in Bremerton WA. Those carriers are so huge! I'm so glad you can e-mail Corwin, Kathy. It's great that Matt didn't have to wait a month and congratulations to Josh!

That's great Kathryne! I hope he'll be stationed close to family.

Kathy, the keel is the bootcamp "yearbook". glad you got your power back. Nice to hear from you Kathryne. Alan got based in WA, we usually vacation in Maine every year (hubby grew up there), but we'll be on the west coast for a while.

Helen, if you still have the receipt that was in with the pictures the keel would be on it. I'm so glad Matt's able to class up. Even though Alan has liberty this weekend he's staying on base. A couple sailors were killed by a drunk driver a week or two ago. What a tragedy!

Hi Helen, Alan's keel only has Div 296 and 297 in it. I'm not sure if they only have 2 divisions in each keel or what. I wonder if it's possible to still get one through the navy exchange. Too bad about your shoulder, my husband had that last year and ended up with surgery, but the tear was minor and he healed really quickly.

We got the keel yesterday also. It sure was fun looking through it.

Tina, yes, they are different lengths depending on rate and some go on to C school, some don't. Alan doesn't have C school and a short A school but he will continue his training once at his homeport. He will report to WA in late October and continue training until Spring.
