JD's Angel: YES, he should have more time to write...no excuses now! HA! My son was asmoed for a week and called me just once during that week. But it is different for all.

JD'sAngel: You can't believe how many are pulled from their division and put in RCU for stress fractures. I have talked with 2 other ladies in these groups just this week. Same story. So he has company there. Try to keep his spirits up...get as many people as possible to write to him while he is in there because you are right...it is a place where they get depressed and discouraged easily. They need support from home! When he is finally reunited with another division, you will get a phone call giving you new PIR date, ship/div #. I know some of these fractures heal quickly, and others not so much---some of the recruits have been there 3-4 months from what these other ladies said. Let's pray that he has a fast and complete healing! Meanwhile they most likely are having him keep up with the academic portion of his training.

I'm not really sure about his duties.. I know he's on orders not to stand for more than 15 minutes (and believe me, they push him every minute of that). I think he still has watch and some duties, but I just don't know for certain. I have a feeling he'll have more time to write and if things change with his health he'll be able to call.

JDsAngel - Do you know if he has to heal up compleatly before doing different duties or can he do these duties while healing? Just wondering, do they get to write you more and call more to keep you updated on their health?

thanks everyone... there really isn't much we can do right now except wait. From what I understand from others who have gone through this, my SR will heal up and do different duties of the last 2 weeks with another division as a tag along. Most likely. Then hopefully he'll get BS21 and then I'll get the "I'm a Sailor" call. That is if I can keep my SR's spirits up. Apparently people who get pulled for RCU end up feeling a bit ... depressed. I'm trying to send him as much encouragement as I can. I still just want to hug him.

I got a letter from him yesterday that said he wants to hug me until my shoulders ache, then he wants to sleep for 4 days, and then wake up and just spend as much time with me as possible before getting into life again. He's had such a crappy time of it, which is why I just want him to get better and get through this. :)

For the rest of you... almost 2 weeks left! Not too much longer now!! Everyone please please take pictures so I can see them later!! :D

I got more letters today! :) He says he is a lot better from the pneumonia now and he just cant wait to finish! In his letter from 7/31 he said he would be able to all 8/2 but I guess that was changed since I didnt get a call from him. Maybe it wasn't a sure thing because he didnt say anything on the 1st in his letter. He did say they would be doing Firefighter and pictures this week.

JD's Angel...I hope everything works out for the best for you and your recruit.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes.... I'll have an update in a few after work.

FYI, AirTran is doing a sale into Milwaukee again... 69$ for flights on Thurs and Mondays. *grumbles* I found out of course after I had canceled my flight. Oh well. If anyone else needs it, check out their website.

Thanks to all for the helpful info! I have been finding the prices are dropping, also. It's such a crap shoot; do we wait and hope for better prices and flight times? I just want to make the reservations, and be done with it. Just wrote my son today, knowing I won't get to appease the questions I asked, since I will have to make the reservations for hotel, plane, and car rental. Oh well! I am also trying to coordinate different people's schedules, so we can bring his girlfriend. It's a little more hassle, but I know he'll appreciate it, as he probably won't be able to see us til after or around Thanksgiving, I think.
