dmc20 - Diannep is right on with her answer. The Navy is the only one who can transport a sailor to or from an airport or a base if the Navy is the one who is requesting them to travel. If they are on "leave" (which is different than being on "liberty"), that is different. Are you going to PIR? It is extremely rare that a Grad & Go leaves on a Friday - I've actually tried to find moms on this site who have had it happen and none have come forward yet. So I believe it's safe to say that 99.9% of G&G's fly out on Saturday. If you want more info on the Phases of Liberty sailors get at A-School, there's a discussion on those phases on the Grad & Go Info group. So if you are not going to PIR, but want to know when you can spend a whole weekend with him at A-School, read that discussion. But I must remind everyone that a recruit/sailors personal experience could be different than the norms stated here, that's my CYA disclosure to all statements made on N4M (CYA = Cover Your Assets)!

dmc20: He will be transported from the airport to the base with the other new sailors. I don't believe you will be allowed to take him....although you can MEET him at the airport to say hi! He probably won't get liberty right away...they have a restriction "dot"system that they use as far as privileges. He most likely will be under red dot when he arrives...no liberty yet. But it will happen fairly soon so you can see him on the weekends.

Who is everyone going through for car rentals? What have you found as far as prices? I heard the rumored $9.99 a day car rental through Hurtz was not real (darn!) so I want to try to find the best deal out there. Any suggestions?

How is everyone doing today? I've been gone 3 days, had a great trip to the Oregon Coast with my husband. I'm not even going to try and catch up with all the posts from all the groups I'm on! Just jumping in cold turkey!

Reminder: If you need Grad & Go Info, join that group! FYI: Just because one recruit in a division is G&G does not mean all of them are, but they could be - there is no concrete answer for that.

Amber its for Corpsman but he will be in the Reserves so I think that is why his school will be here.

No mail for me today, maybe 2 morrow. Can get a little expensive, but we have a friend that has lots of land and set up a paintball field in his back yard :)
dmc20 - whats his A school for? My son will be there for MAA, but I don't know yet if he's a grad and go yet.

Wow Amber, you play paintball? That's awesome! My SR likes it and I'd like to play with him, but we really don't have the money for it. I lucked out with my digital camera (early birthday present to myself) because my brother is paying the minimum payments since he bought a laptop on my credit. It's so much fun to have a hobby or playtime activity that everyone can do. :) I can't believe that school is starting for your son already!!!! That's crazy! I remember back in the day that school didn't start until after Labor Day... boy those days are gone. My school starts on the 23rd, but I'm not worried about missing one day. :)

Here's to hoping the mail carriers are nice to us today. Maybe we'll all be lucky and get phone calls this week.

I have a question for those who may know the answer. My boyfriends PIR date is the 20th of this month. He is a grad-n-go and he will be flying that same day back home to San Antonio because his A school is here. My question is will I be able to pick him up from the airport or will he have to go straight to the base? I asked him but he probably has not gotten that letter yet so I would love to know so I can plan something.

Had a busy day today, Played paintball with hubby and younger son at a friends house all day today. Youngest son starts back to school 2 morrow.
TxNavyMom- Each div is picking their own color ribbon.
Mishimom - Glad to hear your son could graduate early then you thought :)))
SusanA - I wonder if my son will also not be a grad and go, since their Both going to the same A school.
I don't like sundays right now, cause there's never a chance for mail.
