PIR was great!!!!!! Loved all the time we got to spend with our son. We got back into town yesterday. We also stayed at the Homewood suites and loved it!! Have only great things to say about it. Pam, don't worry never saw him, at least not drunk. My son called me this morning at 5:45, from Midway airport (geuss he thought if he was up and awake everyone else would or should be too, lol, I'm thankful though cause he could have called at 2:30am when he got to the airport). He also called me again at 9:45 today at the Atlanta airport (has a lay over there untill 2:30pm). 2 phone calls in one day, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning! As I'm typing fed ex just arrived with my sons pics, yay, he had them shipped to me (he didn't want to mess with having to stow them in his ship). I was looking at the order form and he ordered Package A, but it didn't say it came with a cruisebook, anyone have into on this?

My son departs today for A school as a matter of fact. I'm pretty sure that he will call as soon as he gets settled in. It will be a full day for him today. This isn't anything like bootcamp with all the restrictions. I sure that the calls will be rolling in everyday. LOL

The weekend was great. We got to keep my sailor unitl last night. It was hard saying goodbye again but the upside is he called me this morning. As long as I hear from him once and a while it is all good. We did eat at some of the recommended local establishments. They were all great and very friendly. We went to Gurnee Mills Saturday and walked around. My son was stopped several times and thanked for his service. Yesterday we went to the Braves game and had a great time watching the Cubs get beat. It will be sad as we drive back south today knowing I am leaving my son here but we are already talking about coming up here next year for a fishing trip on Lake Michigan. Thanks to all of you for your support during bootcamp - I am now moving over to the "A" school at great lakes - I will be there for quite a while since by son is an ET.

Saying goodbye the second time was MUCH harder than the first. I was so not prepared for that! But PIR was amazing, and I loved every second I got to spend with my sailor!
