Just got a letter today from my son, and he mentioned that the tornado siren went off at 0006 the morning of Friday, 7/23. They all went to the head (bathroom) and sat down until the clear was given, about 40 minutes later. Lots of lightning and bad rain. He just leaned against the wall and fell asleep in about 10 minutes.

We're still not sure if he graduates 8/20, but we'll see. Right now he's in ship 6, div 2341, which I think is still part of RCU. He's lost 14 pounds, which he did not need to lose at all. He also lost his ID, ATM/debit card, phone card, glasses and money! They are looking for them and we sure hope everything is just misplaced and found soon.

He said he felt "multitudes" better around Tuesday, he thinks because of all the walking around he's been doing--back and forth to Tranquility (medical), a different division, etc.

He also said they were under tornado watch and that a tornado hit 10 minutes from where they are. This was dated July 23 and 24th.

Don't forget about our meet and greet ladies. I believe 283 has chosen their ribbon color, i think. Anyway each division talk among each other, and when you come up with a color for your division, I'll place it next to your division # in the meet and greet discussion above. Also in that same discussion there's a list (kinda like who's, who of PIR 8/20/10. I'd like to add everyone's name along with the first name of your SR (how they are related to you) and the first names of who's attending PIR with you, If your not attending the meet and greet, I'll just place "not attending" out to the side of your name. Thanks.

I JUST TALKED TO MY HONEY!!!!!! Ahhhh, that felt so good. (He was able to call becuase of financial stuff) YAY!!! He is doing really great, I got to talk for 9min 28sec. That was SUCH an awesome phone call, I just love hearing his voice :)
I also got a letter from him today (it is my 32nd letter from him, he numbers them!) He is doing great and he said he wants me to send him more funny jokes and stuff. If you have any good ones please send them my way, thanks! He said he has shin splints but is trying to not let that get to him or get him down. He is pushing through :) I am so proud of him!
Today is a good day all around actually...I also got my job back! I am an elementary teacher and for the last year I have been laid off because of the budget crisis in CA. I got my call from the district about 30min before I got a call from my SR offering my a contract, yay! Today is a REALLY good day for me :)

Amber-Brads mom-Thanx! I guess good things do come to those who do their best.
Sailor's Sweetheart- My son made his calls last week. Im not sure if he got out of doing the "normal boot camp" stuff or not, to tell you the truth, I didn't ask. As for anyone else, I really don't know. Sounds like it was a reward for doing a great job the last 2 weeks. He made the calls prior to 3-1. Im sure their were other recruits that got the same thing...I just don't know who they were.

Amber - My SR said div 283 starts new weeks on Wednesday's and so I think they are on 4:1 as of today (he said that last Wed was 3:1), but that could be a little off becuase that doesn't give them quite enough time to get the 8 full weeks before PIR...but it is close.
