faeriequeenie: He couldn't even keep his wallet? They normally allow that and the stamps are usually in the wallet. They normally allow a SMALL Bible to be kept or they issue the one if they ask, I was told??? I think Amber is right...it is a very confusing time when they first arrive and they just throw it all in! the box!

Ladies, Picture info. If your recruit orders Pkg A, it will include The Keel (yearbook) in addition to the pictures. The pkg is $140. Make sure your recruit oders the PIR DVD separately ($29, I think). You can order The Keel and PIR DVD on PIR day at the NEX if your recruit didn't. But not after PIR day. I believe you can order extra pictures up to a year after PIR. Prices could change on these, so don't quote me!

I was reading a lot about what they get to keep and what they don't, everything that's on the "list" their allowed to keep. They say some just get so flustered/confused that SR's just throw everything in the box

Weird. THey wouldn't let Michael keep his nail clippers, or anything else, not even the Bible his grandparents got him.

Ya, he kept his stamps, watch, address book, bank papers, wallet. I think he also kept his toothbrush/paste, razor, and B.O killer

I'm getting letters more frequently now and my sailor said they can send them out on more days now instead of just Sundays! YAY! He sounds good still. One of the guys in the group though said a racist statement to him and since he didnt report it they both paid by doing IT! :(
He asked me to send more pictures. I dont think my mail has caught up with him yet though. I've sent about 25 letters already and hes only gotten the first 10 as of last week.

They let him keep his stamps? My husband wasn't allowed to keep literally anything, except his legal papers.

My son asked for more stamps, he went to BC with 40. I sent him more, but just wondering what he did with them all, cause I haven’t gotten that many letters and I send him about 2-3 self addressed stamped envelopes a week. Makes me wonder who he’s writing to, I want to know so I can hunt them down and read theirs too! LOL! He also said he needed more envolopes (forgot to buy them when he went to the NEX), said he would pay me back, that statement broke my heart, like I won’t be sending him care packages throughout his Navy career, ha, he just thinks he got away from me and my mothering by joining the Navy!!!

Got a letter today - Yeah!!! He's been sick all but 4 days and had to go to medical today for an eye infection. Never had one of those before they must have all kinds of germs flying around up there on the ship. He is still in good spirits and has a sense of humor about the whole thing. Wants me to send him some family and friends address - he has more time to write now.
