Does anyone know when Battlestations will be for Division 940, Ship 6? and is the phone call the afternoon that Battlestations ends? Don't want to miss that phone call!

No word since the phone call (July 16th) but remember "No News is Good News!". I was actually pleasantly suprise to even get a real letter from him since we discussed before he left the fact he was not going to write. For us 8 weeks is nothing new - he's been working at a scout summer camp for the last several years so he was gone all summer to a different state.

It's been 2-1/2 weeks since I heard from my SR ... anybody out there experiencing the same thing?

Haha, no Steph, he didn't tell me to join. He mentioned it, but Sam Aberson was actually the one who convinced me lol! =)

25 days!!! Before we know it, it is going to be 3 weeks, then 2 weeks.... then only one week and we will be all waiting for the "I'm a Sailor" call! I get the chills just thinking about it. Does everyone know about the blue candle tradition for the night of Battlestations?
By the way, my countdown chain is getting SO much shorter. I love it! It goes from one top corner of my closet to the other top corner of my closet and it use to almost touch the ground in the middle. Now it is getting so short I am going to have to just let it hang down one side pretty soon because it wont reach the oppisite corner, YAY!!!
I watched a PIR video again today on You Tube and got all choked up... again! You would think that after the first time of watching complete strangers graduate I would be able to hold back the tears everytime after that, NOPE! All I do is just sit there and picture my SR coming into the hall through that huge door. I even showed the PIR video to my mom today and she got all choked up :) I also had her watch the Battlestations video today so she would get an idea of what it is like. The hat ceremony made us both tear up (that's like the 3rd or 4th time for me, ha!). I am emotionally on the verge of tears so much lately when I think about him, especially lately. What a HUGE moment that is for our SR's when they get that Navy hat! They are so amazing! I am so proud of them!
Stephanie: Welcome home! Glad to hear that you got a letter and that camp was so great!

Grad & Go update: If your sailor is a G&G, please read this!!!

The Navy doesn't do this often, but I wanted to prepare you guys just in case! One group of sailors in PIR 7/23 were on a Chartered Flight. Those are different from regular flights, as they don't go into the airport and check in like a normal passenger. Which means that their parents never saw them in the lobby and were not able to say their goodbyes or hand them their cell phones. The weather was also very bad in Chicago yesterday, so there were lots of delayed flights. Those sailors who were on normal flights were able to spend more time with their families at the airport because of those delays (so that was good!), but the experience with the Charted Flight group was NOT pleasant. Please go to the Grad & Go Info group and read the recent posts and a new discussion to prepare yourself. Knowledge is not only powerful, it's calming too.

Lesson learned: Always say goodbye and I love you each day, because you never know if you will get to see your sailor the next day. Of course, we should do that with anyone who is special in our lives, not just our sailors!

I think we'll leave the six flags thing up to him. He'll know whether it's a good idea or not.

Please pray for the 2 missing sailors in Afghanistan (Friday). One was reportedly killed by the Taliban, the other a prisoner. Lots of prayer!

When we went to my other sons graduation (airforce), 3 yrs ago in SAn Antonio, we all went to Sea world, Had a great time on all the rides and seeing the shows. If my son wants to go, then we'll be going eathier on sat or Sun. If he doesn't want to then we won't. Im going to let him choose what we do and what we eat. So I say if you or your SR wants to go then go. Also when my mom graduated Navy bootcamp in Fl (years ago) we all went to Disney World, I still remember her wearing her dress whites (skirt) and black shinny heals, lol
