faeriequeene11 - I am confused??? So do you and your mother-in-law have the same name on here? Is the post below from your mother-in-law.... and is her name Angela??? If so, "Hello Angela, welcome!" ?????

Hey! It appears my mother-in-law used my user name! Say hi to Angela, everyone!

faeriqueene11: oh, and the answer to your other question is "no", they are not allowed to wear anything but their Navy issued uniforms all weekend. Even if they want to swim in the hotel pool, they must grab their Navy issued swimwear from their barracks after PIR and wear those! There are grave consequences for being caught dressed in anything else - and yes, they are watching! The folks who work at RTC live in the area. The only place your sailor can unwind and dress casual is in your motel room. So bring him some comfy clothes for that!

faeriqueene11: My advice is to stay away from Six Flags, at least on PIR day when they are wearing their Dress Whites! The lines are long, it's hot and you really don't get any time with your new sailor at a theme park. But, if your son has his heart set on it, do it on Saturday - when they are wearing their "peanut butters"!

Hi everyone,
I just read some of the comments/concerns in a discussion on another PIR group and wanted to mention that Grad & Go does not mean Gloom & Doom ladies, there are perks that you have to look forward to!!! Honestly, I've been through it. PLEASE go read the info on the Grad & Go Info group, it will help. My son was told he was leaving RTC at 2am on Saturday, turns out they changed it to 5am and his plane didn't leave til 1pm, some sailors didn't fly out til 3pm. AND..... you can hand them their cell phones at the airport - instant contact forever more! Those who are not G&G can't be handed a phone, so their loved ones have no contact for another week or so. Check out that group!

Hi all. I am new to this and think it is wonderful. My son is in ship 7 div 283. I have had a lot of questions answered here. We are staying at the Navy Lodge. We were also thinking of going to six flags but if they have to be in uniform how in the world will they keep from ruining them whites? Are they allowed to where something else?

JDs: There really isn't any "excellent" restaurants right there in GL or Gurnee, but if you go to Navy Pier in Chicago, you'll have quite a few to choose from.

Ok.. for those of you who've been up there... restaurants... any idea where I can find a list of GOOD ones? I see a few that I might like but I really don't want to spend money on food that tastes like ... well.. blech.

Must share this!
I've been writing to several recruits who don't get mail from home, and one of them graduated today, PIR 7/23. My N4M friend who is there for her boyfriends graduation took a picture of my adopted sailor this morning and sent it to my cell phone, with a message from him. THAT MADE MY DAY!!!! I now have a face to put with his name. I then had my grandson take a pic of me on my phone and sent it to my N4M friend, so she could show it to my adopted sailor (Kyle). My poor N4M friend, she wants to visit with her BF, but she takes time out to put me and Kyle together via phone! LIFE IS GOOD - Thank you Lord!
