Sobe, Thats crazy. The things they get yelled out for. I wonder If that was what my son was talking about when he said he was "sick of writing in recruit handwriting" lol

Susan A - not sure if I've shared this story on this group yet or not, but my son got screamed at for 30 minutes and then assigned IT for another 30 minutes for failing to put a period after his sentence in the log book. He laughs about it now. Apparently the photographer was around that day taking pictures for the Keel Book (bc yearbook) and they got a photo of his RDC chewing him out. Brandon can't wait until that book arrives, should be here soon. We got the DVD of PIR about 10 days ago.

YAY!!! I got a call too!!! :-D
Just like you ladies he doesn't know yet if he's a g&g. He likes the RDC's and said the guys are starting to shape up a bit more (the ones that were not doing good) and he told me about his tests and his inspections. When he had to go I was a little upset...then he called me back and said he had 7 mins more to talk!! :-D I told him I was holding down the fort here at home and he told me he knew I would :-D I asked him if he needed more money for so he could spend it at the NEX. He said they were all given a gift card for $150 each to spend there which came out of their first check...so they're all set there. Also now I'm able to shop at the NEX and get gas on base and go to the movies on base as well (aka I got my spouse ID today)!!!

*nods* BTW, it's very strange having my profile with my Sailor's pic on it *LOL* But I figure I'd post it.. that way when us ladies go up there to PIR we can find our guys and point them out! Then again, they probably will look very different. Hehe. And YAY Amber! I'm so glad your son is one of the mail guys!!!! WOOT! It's so amazing how one little thing can bring more people together.

DIV 283 RDC nickname is the "beatmaster", Ouch. My son is also one of the 3 Recruit Mail Petty officers, and loves it. It sad to know that this could have been thier 2ed call, but hey, a call's a call and we got one, YAAA! My son also does not know if he's a grad and go and won't know untill a week before PIR. I figered out how they count thier days, so I can keep up with them. Glad to hear all our guys are doing well, Phone calls are much better then letters. The letters made us all think "all hell is breaking loose in thier Div", LOL.
JD-sorry to hear your guy is sick right now, and glad to know he's hanging in there. I know how hard it is to do an important job while sick.

I got a Call, WOOOOhoooo. I'm on cloud nine right now. 25 min long, he wanted to go to the NEX or it would have been thirty. He sounds soooo good. I can hear the difference in his voice, how grown up he sounds. He says he's passed everything. He also offer to buy me a set of his dogtags :)))) , He thought I'd be in a psych ward by now, LOL. I geuss were both stronger then each of us thought we were. Congrats Div 283 on your calls. Keep your phones near you.

I GOT A CALL TOO!!!! OMG I squeaked when he called. *LOL* I am walking on cloud 9 right now.... my poor guy is sick :( He has an eye infection and said he'll be going to the docs today when they get back from the NEX. He said that on their bulletin board the call they were allowed today was the second one but my Sailor never got his first. :( *pout* Mine doesn't know yet if he is Grad & Go yet either. He has to go to a "classifier" on Thursday to confirm his rate, so they may change it on him if the Navy decides they need him somewhere else. If not, I guess I'll find out if he's G&G after that. My Sailor is one of 3 Mail Petty Officers for the Division and he had to take a test to be able to handle US Postal Mail. He said that a civilian delivers the mail and then they take it from there. Apparently there is no mail delivery on Saturday (just FYI). He said that Zone inspections are HORRIBLE but the personnel (?) inspections are fine. He's doing good otherwise. I'm so happy! I was a little teary at the beginning and then again at the end, but he just said a few things that always make me smile and it was ok. I'm so glad I got to talk to him. :):):)

I JUST GOT A CALL!!!!! I got to talk to him for 30min and 51sec :) He is doing really great and he has passed everything so far, yay!!! He said they are on day 2:5 and tomorrow will be 3:1 and they will be getting new haircuts. They have all of their uniforms at this point (dress blue and whites, MSU's, and NWU's) and he said div 283 will get it together with working as a team. Leadership has changed for them recently so with the change came a little resistence but he said it will work itself out, no biggie :) He is not sure of exact date for Battlestations yet or if he will be a grad and go but that he will find out if he is a grad and go on the 22nd (as will the rest of the division).
It was SO nice to hear his voice! I was strong all the way until the end. When he said he had to go I started to get a little weepy but I just laughed at myself to get through that, ha! He started laughing too, it was really funny!
