Hi ladies, just popping in to share a little something I did for my new Sailor. Our town publishes a weekly newspaper and they put announcements on the front page. I sent in the following Press Release along with a photo of my son. Thought I'd save you all a lot of time trying to find an "Official" press release since our recruiter knew nothing about it. I did some research and found this:

Press Release

Navy (Rank) (First Name) (Last Name), son of (Parent's name) and (Parent's name) of (City), (State), recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL.

During the eight-week program, (Sailor's Last Name) completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations." This exercise gives recruits the key skills and confidence they need to graduate and take to the Fleet. "Battle Stations" has been designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Its distinctly 'Navy' flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor.

(Sailor's Last Name) is a (Year) graduate of (School) of (City), (State).

Mine didn't say I'm A Sailor either. At least not for a bit. He eventually said "we had our last test, so I'm officially a sailor now!" but I'm pretty sure I got a hey baby too! Don't think I could sleep if I wanted to tonight!!

First - Congrats to all of your new sailors! You have been waiting for this weekend for so long, please be safe in your travels and enjoy every minute!!!!!

Second - some last minute reminders!
1 - Be sure you have your ID, your gate/parking pass (at least 2 copies) and plenty of tissue!

2 - Whatever you do, don't get your sailor back to base late!!!!! If the line back into the base is long that evening, get out of line and drive ahead of the entrance and let them get out and walk! Otherwise they WILL lose liberty the next day, AND everyone else in their division can lose 1-3 hrs of liberty for someone's error!

Tammy - thanks! It's funny how the Navy can post full names, but we aren't allowed to on N4M. I reposted for you.
