does anyone know whether "liberty weekend" can ever extend until the Monday after graduation? Nick called home today (yahoo!) and said that his papers say that he ships out to Pensacola on Tuesday 8/24 - we're trying to figure out whether we should stay over till Tuesday in case we can see him on Monday.

Amber...the longer you have to wait for his call, the sweeter his voice will sound when he finally makes it! :-)

First of all, they won't push an entire division back...that is a RDC motivational statement! However, they will detain the ones with the issues for one or two week if necessary. Yep, happened to my son. One week back. Was a great thing for him though...he did fine after that. But both he and I freaked out when it happened....I crumbled into tears after he called....I guess I was emotionally unstable! :-)

As far as the letter writing, as bc goes on, they may be able to write on days other than Sunday. So maybe some have already managed to do this with their "personal" time at night.

JD's Angel: Not a bad idea to write the entire division, but you do realize you would be sending between 70 and 80+ letters, right? HA! But whatever it takes! Nothing like a lecture from irritated WOMEN to get them moving!

Hopefully they don't get pushed back a week. That would be terrible! It's bad enough we've gotta wait this long. If they keep screwing up, we should send a bunch of letters to "any sailor" at Ship 7, Div 283 and just tell them to straighten up and be men, not boys. *LOL*

Mine's saying the same thing, But he didn't say anything about being cycled back. That would really suck. I hope they can pull it together and do what they have to get done.

That's a good question.

I got a couple of letters too. One says they are for the most part working pretty good as a div, but there are a few guys who won't fall in line, talk too much etc and the RDC's are saying they might get pushed back a week because of these few people. He also said he's getting a lot of IT because of it too. sigh.

I want a call too... I haven't gotten a phone call except that first one. I've only gotten the one letter. I hope for more but I won't hold my breath. i'm confused though... if they really only have liberty on Sunday, how do your guys write you?
Comment by Amber-Brad's mom on July 19, 2010 at 4:05pm
No, not yet. I wish I would though. The letters are great and I'm very thankful for them but nothing compares to hearing a voice!
Comment by diannep on July 19, 2010 at 3:56pm
Congrats on the letters, Amber. Have you gotten a call yet beside the I'm Here call?
Comment by Amber-Brad's mom on July 19, 2010 at 2:58pm
I haven't got a call, but I got 3 letters today, :))))) I love, love , love getting mail! He says division needs to work better as a team, and a few other things. Take care and I hope the mailman is good to you today!!!
