Sweetheart: I'm flying up from BWI.. my little brother is a TSA officer so he said he'll take care of me at the airport here. I'll be coming in on the morning of the 19th. I talked to my Sailor's brother this morning (he had been gone all weekend helping a friend move back to Texas from NC). He's definitely going up. However, if you all still want to get together and pal around we can! :D I'm flying up to Milwaukee because it's way cheaper for me. (AirTran has a hub up there.)

Diannep: Is there any chance of my Sailor completing his training early since it's self-paced, or is it kind of structured to make them stay the whole 8 weeks? I know that your son's rate might have been a little different but the scenario is so similar anything is better than no info at this point. :)

Sobe: No, I will not be alone. I will have my mom and my Sailor's Dad with me. However, we will probably be on different flights and just have to get to the airport and wait for eachother, which should be fine.

JD - If you end up going alone let me know and I would love to team up if you are interested :) Do you plan to fly into O'Hare? I plan to fly in on the 19th to O'Hare as early as possible and I am staying at the Navy Lodge. (I really hope to land by 4 or 5 so I can make the Meet & Greet, that is my goal).

Stephanie - Have fun at youth camp :)

JD's Angel: My son was in Meridian also, different rate though. His study was also self-paced and about the same time length.

Stephanie: Enjoy the youth camp and we'll see you on here when you get back!

JD - where is his A-school and what is his rate (job)?
Comment by JDs~Angel~ (RCU) on July 18, 2010 at 8:30pm
wow... I just found out that my Sailor's A-school is "self-paced" and the average time for study is 40 calendar days. They have PT 3 times a week and their liberty hours are posted on the NTTC website. My Sailor will have a nice time down south without me *pout* but I'll get to talk to him wayyyy more often. :)

If my Sailor's brother and aunt and uncle don't go I'll be alone. His aunt and uncle are having some troubles so I'm really not expecting them to come along. His brother is another story. I haven't been able to get a hold of him yesterday or today to help firm up the reservations. If he doesn't, I'm going to make some myself and if he ends up coming along then he'll fit in. Otherwise I'll be by myself.

SailorsSweetheart: Are you traveling alone? If so, then a GPS is a must! You can't drive and read google or mapquest maps at the same time.

In our PIR group, we started a discussion for those traveling alone. Some of the moms hooked up and shared a room and/or a car. Some didn't want a car, but wanted to get to Great Lakes - so they rode with someone, then took taxis around GL area (which still cost them way too much $$) but she didn't have a license (by choice).

Oh, I see. Yes that does help. I am sorry for my lack of understanding here, haha! I seriously grew up in a town of about 8,000 and have never really traveled in huge cities. I have been to some (I live an hour from LA so I have been there quite a bit) but most of the time I don't have to drive I just relax in the passenger seat and the driver always seems to know where they are going, haha! I am such a small town girl :) This is going to be a big trip for me but with the help of all of you wonderful ladies; I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, LOL! Thank you SO much!
