We got a deal at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mettawa for $79 a night and includes breakfast but you have to ask for it when you call. I called the hotel directly. The price wasn't advertised but the concierge told me it was a special for Navy Graduation.

I got a 25 minute call today. It was the greatest ever - he misses music and fishing but sounds like he is doing good. He said he was Grad-N-Go even though he is staying at Great Lakes. He said the next guaranteed call is the one after Battleship.

did any of you all send your Sailor stationary? My first letter came to me on Navy paper.... my first pack of letters I sent had about 10 sheets of blank paper and 2 stamped envelopes and a pen.

Amber: PFA is Physical Fitness Assessment. It includes all that Sailor's Sweetheart mentioned andI would guess the swim portion is a part of that too.

Hello PIR 8/20, I'm trying to catch up on all the posts, but you guys are too active!!! I was offline for 2 days because my husband had emergency surgery - all is fine now, but it made me realize what a N4M addict I am!

Don't worry about the Zip + four number on your letters, the Zip code you need to write, but the + four digits are often wrong. My son's letters had a new one almost every week - so I just wrote the Zip code.

Tips he gave me for envelopes: Don't use those sticky address labels, because they sometimes fall off. Brandon's GF and I used pre-printed return labels with our own address and one fell off - they were reluctant to give him the letter, but he recogonized her handwriting (his address) and was able to show that he knew the sender. May sound strange, but they don't want recruits to receive letters without knowing who sent them. The Navy doesn't need to know you sent them, the recruit does. Sometimes people like to send harrassing letters and this way the recruit can see who the sender is and chose not to read that letter. This happened in my son's division, so I'm speaking from experience.
Best advice is... type or hand write their address and your return address on the envelopes. And as far as the letters go, I always TYPED mine - it was easier for him to read at night (and my handwriting isn't the best!). I always signed it myself and added little last minute comments. I printed two copies of each letter - one to mail to him and one to save. One of the moms in our PIR group had her computer crash and all the letters she had saved were lost. I liked to read the letter I sent the week before on the day I thought he would receive it - I know, I'm kinda strange!

Yeah I put 3401 on my envelope.. the post office doesn't require that YET and probably not while our loved ones are at BC, but it's probably good to get in the habit of it. (Remember that's just for Ship 7, Div 283). Double check the lines in your form letter to be sure.

I don't know what is in the PFA test for Boot Camp but the ones he had to do at MEPS were situps, pushups and running all in a specific amount of time. I hear the PFAs are a bit more, but I don't know. Someone here might know for sure!

I tried logging in here before I went home for the evening (I use my grandma's computer because I don't have internet at home) and it was down. I twitched!!! I can't believe it. *LOL* Being here has been very comforting so yeah, I was a little edgy about it. haha! How quick we fall into it. :D

I hope their test goes great!!!! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Oh and the first surprise I have for my Sailor when I get out there for PIR is that I'm taking him to UNOs for Pizza!!! He loves pizza and steak so yeah... :) I haven't told him in a letter yet though. Hehe.
