SailorsSweetheart - I can't remember how the weeks work, they count them differently than we do. Like 3-4 means week 3 of bc, day 4. They don't count holidays (Sundays are considered holidays). There's a Mom that does know, her user name is Incognito, I'll send her a message and ask her to post it as a discussion - that way others can find it quickly instead of searching through all the posts!

By the way, does anyone know exactly where our Sailors are in terms of the "week" that they are in? I am just not sure when P-Days were technically over and the real hard work of boot camp started. On the bootcamp.navy.mil website it gives a general description of what they will be doing each week but I don't even know when one week ends and the next one begins for them. I thought at one point that the "new" weeks started on a Friday but then I read somwhere that their first "week 2" started this past Tuesday. Any insight would be wonderful. Thanks :)

nnnichols - Thank you SO much for putting the countdown clock on here. You worked hard to get that on here and I really appreciate your hard work :)

diannep - Thank you for that information about the Master at Arms for the Ship. That is so awesome, I am so proud of him! I wonder if he will be given the priviledge of standing out front at PIR or holding a flag or anything like that (I mostly just wonder becaues it will make it easier to find him, haha!)

Amber - So glad to hear that you got a letter in the midst of all that you are going through. Stay strong, you will get through this. Also, I love the idea of each division wearing something different so we can be easily identified. There are only five division so it shouldn't be too hard to decide what we could all wear. Possibly different colored ribbons attached to our shirts with safety pins. Or we could all make shirts at home before hand that have our Sailors Div. number on them??? Mayby silk screen... I don't know if that is expensive or not though???

Anyone planning on attending our meet and greet on 8/19. Go to the "events" tab above and search for "meet and greet pir 8/20/10". Also does our pir group want to wear something Specific for each Div on that night, so we can be identifyed. I know some past PIR groups have done this. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Sailor'sSweetheart: Ok, here is the ship MA info. Yes, there are Master of Arms who serve the entire recruit ship. Each division contributes 1 or 2 recruits for "ship" services. They stand watch on the ship's quarterdeck, etc. She said is is more of a ceremonial position; i.e., not much work. They are excused from division watches because of their ship position. Hope this helps!

Amber, good to hear from you and SO glad that your son's letter came to you (via your friend reading it!) so you could have some JOY during such a difficult time. Many of us are praying for you all and will continue.

Also, many recruits say they won't write when they leave, but most all change their minds when they start getting very homesick and they see others writing the letters! I know you can't wait to hold that letter in your hands!

nnnichols: You are very welcome! But I think Amber is the one who bailed us both out! I had no clue! Glad your husband figured it out.
