When is your son's PIR date? What is his ship div numbers?

Got a letter yesterday from my son, he sounds great. Letter was dated 07/04 and let me know official training "Week 1/Day 1 did not start until Tuesday 07/06 as it took that long to process everyone. He says he has learned to "strip and make his rack" and how to "fold and stowe" everything in his locker compartment. Now learning how to march and drill prior to 1-1 day begins. He says "the food here is great" which says everything about my cooking skills.

Update on Div 242, PIR 7/9 (that's today): This was the division who had to re-do 2 hrs of BS-21 (Battle Stations 21 exercise) yesterday in order to graduate today!

Just updating everyone, Div. 242 graduated with no problems. It was great! We have our son and he looks so good. We have him all day today, tomorrow and Sun. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers for his division.

I got my first letter from my son yesterday!!!! I couldn't believe it. He sounded okay, but misses home. I know the first part must be the hardest. He mentioned how painful the shot they got in their b___ and how it was days till it wasn't so painful anymore. He said they received 9 shots. Also, I'm trying to get the countdown clock added, but am having difficulty. If anyone can help let me know. I'm sorry Amber for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers.

jetcar - I think so far it is you, Amber, and myself that have Sailors in div 283. There may be others but it is hard for me to keep track unless the div is in the screen name, ha! I hope our three Sailors become friends, that would be so awesome. I am sending him a questionnaire that has a question on it asking him who he talkes to the most and who his bunkmate is. When I hear back from him on that I will share initials and see if they match your Sailors initials :)
*Hoping for a letter tomorrow*

Amber - oh my gosh, I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this right now! You and your family will be in my prayers. Was your son close with his grandpa? Although I am sure it is hard, you are doing the right thing by keeping this from your Sailor for now. He will thank you later, stay strong!

When It rains, it pours. We found out today that my hubby's dad died, very unexpectd. We tried to get a flight out this eveing, but we were to late. We'll be flying into Philly first thing in the morning. As we discussed with our son, he will not be told untill PIR. Visitation is on Sunday with a military burial on Monday. I'm gonna try to keep up with N4M, as this is the only contact that I feel I have with my son right now. I know I need to go but I don't want to miss any letters ethier. This is one very sad Navy mom right now. :(((
