jetcar: It will depend on the diviision, and even within the division, some may not be GradNGo. If at all possible, plan to be off the entire weekend just in case. They usually don't know until about 2-3 weeks before PIR if they are GradNGo.

Does anyone know if the guys with PIR 8/20 are going to be g&g or have liberty weekend? I have to trade shifts at work WAY in advance and need to know what I'm doing to tell work and work things out.

tasmyn: I one hundred percent agree with what SOBE and SusanA have said here. Such a hard call for you...and only you can make it...but if in doubt on what to do, I would lean to the side of not telling him yet, especially since she is doing better. Hopefully she will be doing really well by PIR time....better for him to see the great results and then find out what he missed!

On your son being discouraged....I bet by the time you received the letter, he was doing much better. Remember, it is up and down for them too, just like it is emotionally for us as their supporters. He is being challenged, broken at times, but rebuilt! That smile on his face at PIR will make you know that it was WORTH IT! He will be a United States Sailor! What an honor!

tasmyn44: There's been a lot of pro & con on giving unpleasant news to recruits. I lean towards NOT telling them, because SusanA is right - bc is stressful enough. But here's the bottom line: You know your child the best, think it through and then whatever decision you make will be the right one, and then don't regret it. I use prayer a LOT and it's amazing how insightful it can be.

Sailors Sweetheart: nnnichols is tryinig to get the clock on there. She was asking for help...just like I did for the groups I sponsored. For computer-challenged people like me, it was a bit confusing! Hopefully she can get it on there soon!

nnnichols - Is there any way that you might want to put the countdown clock at the top of our group page? That would be so awesome :)

Oh my gosh, my heart goes out to the family members and the recruits in PIR 7/9/2010. They must just have so much anxiety right now, I will pray. 4:00am GL time is 1:00am my time (I am in CA), I will try to stay awake and pray for them right at 1:00am my time. Anyone with me?

Reminder: Send those inspirational, motivational letters now! If you get a letter that is not all rosy, acknowledge how they feel (they need to know you heard them), and remind them to help the guy out next to them, even if they don't like him or if he is the one screwing up. I keep trying to stress the importance of team work and how they need to work together.

I am curious if any of you are on other PIR groups - you can learn a lot from people ahead of you in this bc game and you can offer assistance to those behind you. The reason I ask is this: Something I have never heard of has happened to at least one division who has graduation this coming Friday PIR 7/9/2010 (that's 2 days away!!!). Just today they finished BS-21, received their Navy caps, started celebrating, then were told that their graduation is in jeopardy and they must re-do a 2 hr segment of BS-21 tomorrow morning at 4am. Now, this sounds very cruel, but the Navy doesn't do this in jest - there must of been something that they didn't do well as a "team/unit/division" that the Navy is concerned about. Remember, these guys/gals will be out on our ships, and for the safety of themselves and others, they MUST know what to do in an emergency. That's why learning to work together right now is sooo important. Like I said, I'm not trying to worry anyone, but advise your recruits to do whatever they can now to assist anyone having a problem. And please pray for those recruits and their families of PIR 7/9 so that all will be well and everyone will graduate.

Ellie - Welcome to the group :) Speaking of Christmas, I have literally started a paper chain (like the ones we would all make when we were little) and I tear off one loop per day... 43 days to go from today, yay! Haha!

Found out last week that my daughter's PIR date is the 20th. So glad to have a date to countdown to kinda like Christmas!!
