OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Making Travel Plans: This is always a tough one, especially if you don't know when your recruit will be leaving bc (boot camp). I really like diannep's advice, which mirrors my statement of staying until late Sunday or early Monday.

My son was a Grad & Go and we were so exhausted after meeting him early at the airport on Saturday that we really needed that Saturday night to relax. We spent 4+ hrs with him at Midway, then went into Chicago to Navy Pier. We flew home on Sunday afternoon, which gave us time to check out the Botanical Gardens - which were awesome!!! (parking cost $20, but there is no admission fees to go to this HUGE park).

I booked the Navy Lodge last night 4 nights - $65/night no tax. I had booked SpringHills Suites but my Nephew (he is a Navy Chief) and his boys are able to come up too so I moved our reservations to be with him. Last week Springhills was $107/night and last night it was $149/night what a difference a week makes.
