Hi all!! I am with Sharon and Jana we met our son at the airport and was able to go through security with him to sit at the gate until he left. The unfortunate thing for us was that his flight left at 7 am so we only got a couple of hours with him - which was better than nothing!! The other unfortunate thing for us was trying to pay the toll when we got to the airport exit - it acted like we didn't put any money in and we got flashed!! Still haven't seen anything in the mail yet but we'll figure that out later.

It's so hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly since PIR but I really enjoy the phone calls and texts whenever we want!!!

I met mine at the airport also. I didn't ask him--I just told him that we would meet him at the airport Saturday morning and he didn't say anything about us not being able to.   We didn't leave the airport because I thought I was doing good just to get to O'Hare from the hotel without getting lost and didn't want to chance it.  We were able to get gate passes to see him off at the gate, but I didn't realize that you got those when they checked their bags....I thought you got those from security or when you were about to go through the gate, so we had to go back through the line to get the gate passes, but had plenty of time to do that.

Sharon, Yep, you are exactly right.  Some ladies get nervous about going to the airport to meet their sailors because the sailors have been told that no one can meet them there.  But as you found out, that isn't true.  So glad you had such a wonderful day!

Hey, ladies.  Did anyone have a sailor who flew out after PIR on Monday or later?  We had been told that all fly out on Sat or Sun, but now are questioning that.

If you had a sailor fly out on Monday after PIR....or later that week...please post.  Thanks!

Reggie, it was nice meeting you in Ill. Hope everything went well and you did not run any more tolls, lol. Sharon, real classes start monday for Ryan. Sounds like the boys are doing some hanging out, He said they were going to Davids room for movies the other night or something like that. He did get his Sec Clearance so now it is just a matter of keeping the GPA up to an acceptable level. He feels pretty good about it after the briefs. He has a 25 YO for a roommate but he says he is never there as he is a couple phases ahead. Sure is alot less stressful now with cell, text, and skype!

Oh the texting & phones calls are so nice! Britt described her room like her cousins dorm, the fridge microwave and dresser lol not a loud noise room of chatting girls anymore... She's gotten to rest and really enjoy her new "home away from home" no one yelling at her for what others are doing too is so nice! She likes her roommate too! All is great & she's so glad she never gave up!
Her best friend from bootcamp is in fl too but about 5 miles away so maybe after a few weeks they will get to meet up during liberty... But for now she says she's very happy with where & who she is with! So glad to get that news!!
