I thought I'd start this discussion so others with SR's in the same div could get to know eachother a little better. Also will be handy if anyone has info directly relating to our div we can share here.

Hi oregon mom and all the other SR's Moms, I'm Patty and my son Ryan is in 11/273 and I got my call today!!!!! It was way too short, but i was able to quickly do 3-way-call and get my husband, Wayne, on the line. I've been afraid I would forget all the things I wanted to ask him but we did get our first letter yesterday which had a lot of those questions answered. He finds the PT fun. He is the Section Leader and he says that when someone screws up HE has to do "IT"(intensive training). He says that's NOT fun. Making lots of friends, food is good and loves all the mail and pictures being sent. They receive mail every night Monday - Friday, but he can only send mail on Sunday. He mentioned that he gets our mail in 2-3 days(coming from south Florida), but we don't get his mail for 4-5 days. At least he gets it!! He says it is lonely but all the letters help a lot. I had to laugh at the part about having Free Time for Ironing and Folding (that would be the day that my 21 yr old would use free time for ironing and folding!) Ryan mentioned that he did real good on a recent test and that he will be aloud another 5 minute call soon. It was a relief to hear his voice and that he is OK so far with Boot Camp.
We are in the process of making arrangements to go up to PIR but not sure when to come fly home. Ryan states that they don't know that til week 6. I think we are staying at the Ramada Inn, anyone else staying there?

Hi Patty! My name is Tracy. My son Nick is in 11/273. His story sounds the same as Ryans. So proud of them!

I need to make arrangements for PIR but I don't have enough details. Is it being held at the address we send their letters to? Do you know what time the ceremonies begin on the 26th?

Hi Patty I am Debera and my son is Kyle in 11/273 we got a phone call also on Friday he spoke to his Father I was out taking care of groceries, chores etc. figures.  So I will continue writting to my SR.  My SR is teaming up with Sandi who's son is in 11/273 I believe this is right.  My SR A school is in Dam Neck, Virginia he is IS.  It was nice to see something for our SR finally here.  We will not be able to make it to his graduation due to our health his father has advanced MS and myself cancer that is when Sandi welcomed him into their family for graduation.  If you happen to get photo's I would greatly appreciate copies which I would gladly pay for or you could email them to me whatever is easiest for you.

Hi Debera, nice to meet you. And im also glad that you've joined this group. I was afraid that no one else would join. I will be more than happy to get pics for you of graduation. And I will get them to you asap. I'm so sorry to hear about your heath issues with yourself and your husband. My prayers are with you both. My SR is going to MA A -school in San Antonio Texas after PIR. What state are you from? I'll ask my SR in the next letter if he knows your son and I've also written to him about letting the other SR's of this group.
My husband is also going to San Antonio for his tech school. He'll be training to be a health coreman. What's your sons job?
My son, Mitchell is also in the group (11/273).  We have not gotten any phones calls yet and only one letter-that I think was dated during his first week.  We are in Texas and he is being sent to San Antonio as well.  That was a surprise (pleasant one at that)

Hi Everyone. Thanks for starting this. My son is Alec in 11/273. We are from TN (WA originally) and he will be heading to Charleston for Nuke A school. We received one letter, and I missed the call on Friday. SO BUMMED. I now have my cell phone all but glued to me. I don't have any real news to share, but I certainly will if/when I have some!

My son is with Ship 11 Div 273. PIR 8/26/11. Cannot find any information about the graduation. Time? Address? etc....Would LOVE some details. Going to visit with his recruiter tomorrow.

It is my understanding that their graduation will be on August 26, 2011 that is what my SR told me in a letter Ship 11 Div 273.

Hi Tracy datmax1, I don't want to give the wrong info but i believe the Graduation is from 9:00-10:30am on base. I think you have to get there around 6am. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I hear that the seating is labeled for each Division so you sit right in front of your sailor. We are staying at the Ramada Inn where the Meet and Greet will be the night before for the families. As the day gets closer we will have more info i'm sure.

Kcasto- Looks like our boys are going to MA school together. I wonder if they know each other yet. I'll ask in my next letter. In other words, tomorrow's letter. I try hard for everyday letters! I hope you get a phone call soon.

hstolz, so sorry you missed your call. I'd be Bummed too.
I'm glad to see that several more people have joined our discussion. For the first week or so I thought I might be the only one. It's nice to meet all of you. My  name is Debbie and my SR is Pete 11/273. We are from Oregon. He left Oregon on June 27th.  Pete is headed to Charleston for A-school. We missed our "I'm here" call. He called my cell at 2:30am. He got a reward the first weekend there and tried to call but we did not expect him and missed the call out watering. I was so bummed to say the least. Now both phones don't leave my side. We've gotten a couple letters and Pete seems to be doing great also. He missed the next opportunity to call when he was at the ship sick. I'm hoping to hear from him soon. I too will not be able to attend PIR. I'm devistated but I do know you can buy pictures and a DVD of the entire ceremony.  All the PIR information in available on the Navy Recruit Training Command website. There is also a Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook. You can ask questions and someone from RTC will answer them. Just be careful not to mention specific names of your SR's on the FB page. RTC has pretty strict guidelines on what you can or can not post. Talk to you all soon
