SailorsCupcake.  Remember...bootcamp is a big test for the family members for when they eventually will be deployed.  Although there may be some email contact and a few phone calls, it may not be that often.  So you are kind of in "bootcamp" right now too!  :-)

It is nice to see some familiar ship/div numbers.  Unfortunately all mail/calls have needed to go to my son-in-law so far.  I appreciate that he lets us know when he hears something.  I sent a letter off today and was pleased to at least get a message on the way to my daughter.

I hope it's only because of the weather... but I'll tell you what, I can't keep letting myself get my hopes up so much. It hurts too much when I'm let down. I was really hoping to hear from him today. I need it really bad. There's only so much I can do to distract myself... I thought I could just book a flight to fly out there today, just to be closer to him... that's how disappointed I felt. Bad day :(

My SR has been there two and a half weeks - since June 28.  I've heard two or three weeks.  So...maybe the mail is delayed because of the storms and maybe they won't get a chance to write until this coming Sunday.  I have had Thursday in my head so when there was no letter in the mailbox this afternoon, my neighbors were probably shaking their heads if they saw me moping back up to the house...

Don't worry.  The letters are coming.  This is the time of the week that they usually arrive...if they wrote this past Sunday.  How long have your SRs been up there?  They usually get to write after being there for a couple of weeks.  Remember, though, they had some bad storms come through on Monday.  Could have delayed the mail a bit. Some of the power is still out...like at the Ramada right now where PIR 7/15 families are arriving to stay and for the MeetNGreet!  Ramada is turning them away (helping them with other hotels), but thanks to the industrious ladies in that group, they got the MeetNGreet set up at a local restaurant and the different hotels are referring the Navy families to this new place!  HOOYAH for the ladies of Navy for Moms for getting this done!

I know!!! But I don't know if any of them are even allowed to send out letters this week... I was told that they only get to send out letters on Sundays. Does anyone know anymore information about this?

I would love to hear that somebody is getting letters from their SR, I want to feel a little hope that a letter is coming for me soon! :-)

Has anyone received a letter from their SR yet?
Comment by diannep on July 14, 2011 at 1:26pm
No, they do not split up divisions.  I see what you mean, Sharon---read the original post too fast!!!  Thinking that oregon's mom's SR may have just jotted down the wrong ship number.  All in 273 should be in the same ship #.
Comment by diannep on July 14, 2011 at 12:57pm
The ship number is actually just where they sleep.  Their barracks. Your PIR group is probably in several different "ships."
