Cathy - not stupid! Our plan is to scan and send on to family and friends even though we haven't received anything.

Flights booked, hotel booked and car rental booked. 32 days and counting. Where we live its hot, 110 AND now humid. Yuck! Hoping for some rain room, cool things down a bit. Seem to just be getting a lot of wind, which is wrecking havoc on the pool. Tomorrow is monday and back to work. Actaully looking forward to, means that Wednesday is close (seems to be our mail day), so instead of living for Fridays, end of the week, I live for Wednesdays. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, we are almost half way through!

Doing great :-) How's everyone else too? Had a busy three days at our pizza restaurant. Just simply enjoying a wonderful day of rest. Of course, writing a letter to Eryn.

Grad & Go update: If your sailor is a G&G, please read this!!!

The Navy doesn't do this often, but I wanted to prepare you guys just in case! One group of sailors in PIR 7/23 were on a Chartered Flight. Those are different from regular flights, as they don't go into the airport and check in like a normal passenger. Which means that their parents never saw them in the lobby and were not able to say their goodbyes or hand them their cell phones. The weather was also very bad in Chicago yesterday, so there were lots of delayed flights. Those sailors who were on normal flights were able to spend more time with their families at the airport because of those delays (so that was good!), but the experience with the Charted Flight group was NOT pleasant. Please go to the Grad & Go Info group and read the recent posts and a new discussion to prepare yourself. Knowledge is not only powerful, it's calming too.

Lesson learned: Always say goodbye and I love you each day, because you never know if you will get to see your sailor the next day. Of course, we should do that with anyone who is special in our lives, not just our sailors!

This was posted on Facebook by a friend. Thought I would share.

A U.S. military member is somewhere in the world tonight missing his or her family while you are safe at home. In the minute it takes you to read this, military members all over the world are not only saving lives, but sacrificing their own for your freedom. It's Military Appreciation Week. Repost this if you are in the military, love a military member, hold memories of a fallen hero, or appreciate our troops!!!

Sorry-one clarification. Leave the name you want on the ribbon, screen or real name. Cathy had also suggested we add the state we are from, so leave that too.
Thanks

Ok all. Have been doing some research. We can get the anchor pins but they are around $2 each. I can get flag pins cheaper. I am willing to put out the money if you want the anchors, but I would need to collect donations for them. Cathy has offered to get the ribbon and do the divisions and names that we know of. We will then have extras at the M & G with the pens so any one that wants could write their own name and division. The extras would have the flag pins. We would also put out a collection jar for any that want to make a donation towards the cost. Please go to the discussion on M & G (top of this page, you my have to click on view all). Leave names there and if your division isn't part of your screen name add that to your message. That will make it easier to have all info in one place. Thanks for your help with this. We can discuss there if anyone else wants to help.

Hi everyone. I will be able to make the meet and greet after all. The ribbon idea is cool. Maybe just the DIV number and our recruits first name on the other. But whatever is decided I 'm fine with. Hopefully my son will get to call this week. Maybe Tuesday. Thats his birthday. It would make me feel better seeing that it is the first birthday I havent been with him. Its funny because I have been doing the same thing CathyJ is doing. checking my phone to make sure its on and working. LOL.
