rynot: You have some time here, so I would ask him in a letter or ask if he calls to find out when they can receive them. My guess is that they will "hold them" for him until PIR whenever they arrive.

Jophers:: I had to pull up the spongebog squarepants theme song and imagine the recruits marching to it. In fact, it is playing right not. Everyone needs to google SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS THEME SONG and listen to it. It will give you a nice chuckle!

Ahhhh...the peanut butter shot. It is huge. It is a very potent antibiotic that our N4M friend, JessicaBSailor (nurse), told me about. They have to roll around on their butt a while after it to disperse it--it is to catch all of those nasty things that these recruits/sailors are exposed to (including sexual). My son never mentioned any of the shots to me...I had to find out about them on here and then ask him! HA! He did tell me that for some, he would be facing another recruit. They would be getting shots on both of their arms at the same time...and had to lean over towards one another to get the ones in the butt. I really hate that they have to get all of those...I'm one who is not convinced of many of these vaccinations and so not happy! But it is the Navy's way! So glad that your son seems to be doing well, even though he sounded strained...he was probably very tired! Yes, I know about those quick goodbyes...they know not to mess around when the RDCS's tell them to muster up.

Ladies, those of you in Div 941, please take note that Jophers mentioned here that Monday, 7/26, will be day 3-1 for them. Week 3, Day 1. Write it on your calendars. That's important so that you will know where they are in their training. In another week, they will start feeling some relief from the difficult first few weeks of boot camp. They know then what is expected of them, are succeeding, and things are better!

Cameron called. The phone call was for 35 mins.He seemed strained not himself like he just couldn't let his hair down and relax even in that phone call. He told me it was really hot up there and he was really tired and that they had just marched there in the heat but I felt for the first few minutes he was going to give me bad news, He did say Division 491 got to call because they had done extremely well in some major written exam. Class score was 4.0, he scored 4.7 (grading goes 0 to 5.0 is what I am told). Just like the the others he too said there are some that just arn't going to make it as they are holding the division back from gelling together. He also said the girls are having some in division cat fights going on but he stays out of it. He knows both TX Navy moms daughter and Rynot's son. He told me your sons nick name in boot camp rynot.I hve forgotten it now. He talked about drilling and marching to spongebob squarepants theme tune plus the Division flag is a hangranade with hearts coming out of it. My son said he snare drumms for PIR's now but for our PIR he now thinks he will march with his own division and may carry the Louisian flag,. Of course I am asking him where he will stand because I don't want to miss him, with that he laughed and said don't worry mom you'll see me. He told me had had his wisdom teeth pulled which he had never mentioned before, he got 2 days siq(sick in quaters) and one day light duty. He also told me that he got a peanut butter shot???? when i aske dhim what that was he said a huge shot in the but. "mom we don't ask what they are for we just take them. Anyway the shot in the but numbed his let and he couldn't march proprly with that, got in a little trouble for not marching properly until they realized what was wrong. He said it is all OK now. His rack mate did get ASMO'd which I don't no what it actually stand for but it means he got back classed. He got put back right to the begining, mind you he thought they were going to kick him out all together so at least that is somthing. He did tell me about rynot son passing his buds and was very proud and impressed by it. Of course even for 35 minutes it went way to quickly. All of a sudden I could hear some yelling in the back ground. and then him telling me he has to go. So with the I love you's done he hung up on me.
Anyway they are in 2-5 hold now and will start 3-1 on Monday. It was so bitter sweet to hear from him but but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Hi everyone, just a reminder that that each Grad & Go situation is different, but there are a lot of norms we can share. Most are told that they will leave the base at 2am on Sat on the bus to go to airport, but that often changes to 5am. Sometimes your new sailor's flight is 2 hrs after they arrive at airport, sometimes it 7 hrs after. They won't know til the week of PIR - so just plan on meeting them at the airport and enjoying them there - YES you can go thru security with them if you request military family pass at the ticket counter - there's a LOT MORE info on the Grad & Go Info group - click the hyperlink.

And YES, there are G&G's over to Great Lakes A-school, so there are different things that happen for those recruits. Don't assume, get information from the G&G group so you are prepared.

Have our hotel reservations, staying at the Residence Inn and making flight arrangements tomorrow. My husbands brother is getting married the following weekend in RI, so we are going to make vacation out of it.

Anita, so glad you got a call today. Seems like our division is struggling a bit, but my son said they seem, hopefully, to be getting the hang of it. He did say that there a few who just dont' want to seem to get it and thinks they may not make it much further.

DianneP - thank you. Can I send him a pair now or should I wait a few weeks. Just worried that he won't get them in time but don't want to get him in trouble for having what he shouldn't. He left here with 2 pairs and they came home in his box.

rynot: Yes, they are allowed to wear contacts for graduation.
