Liberty is different than Leave.  Leave is similiar to requesting time off for vacation at work, they must submit a chit and have it approved.  Liberty basically means that they have "liberty" to…Continue

Thank You, I was wondering because I would love to have one too. Hehehe. Hey quick question are they going to have a week of liberty for some recruits?

Ooh yes my husband had to get his 4 wisdom teeth pulled out. He said what was funny how I told him to keep aa towel on his pillow while sleeping because he will be drooling with a lot of blood. He said he was so numb and when he signed out he drool on the counter he was embarrassed. Apparently my husband told his mom for her to expect a phone call from him probably sunday. He didn't tell me anything like that. OOh well, I guess on that. I hope I can still get a ribbon even though I am not a mom. ;o). He also said his bunk mate helps him out a lot. Would it be cheaper to drive over there from AZ?

nikosmom: Could have been Vicodin that they gave him. Mine just had gum surgery last week and they gave him that (not in bc). I was NOT a happy camper with that...this kid doesn't even take an aspirin! Has a high threshold of pain...why not start with something over the counter? He never even took anything after having his wisdom teeth out for pain (in the civilian world then). Well, anyway, said they made him feel bad and he didn't take many.

Congrats rynot!

He will use the prepaid card...this one's on the recruit's dime.

Division 941 - I got a phone call today!!! OMG, I feel like I've been waiting for Christmas and Santa brought me what I wanted. He sounds great! Says he was sick, has mercer but is fine now. I thought I would faint when he told me, but he said he does happen there, close quarters but was caught quickly and he is fine. He did pass his PST for buds, so he is getting reclassified, just waiting on his background check. Said he has lost about 5 pounds, but has gained muscle. Did say that the first 48 hours were the worst of this life and he didnt' know what he got himself into. Says that he likes it now, he knows what the RDC's are doing and he likes them. Said the divison is still struggling a bit, mostly the girls, lots of cat fights and IT for them. He is a flag carrier, will carry the michigan flag, yea, so I will know who he is. I asked him how in world he got into the 900 division with no musical talents and he said they needed to fill a few spots and he had a chuck lidel haircut (we warned him!) and the RDC said he liked his attitude (he laughed when he said that, so im taking it the comment was purely sarcastic). Said he can't wait for real food, wants chicago pizza and a chicago dog. He is not a grad and go, most likely, if the buds thing goes through, will end up on liberty for a week, waiting for the next 800 division, whose PIR date is 9/2. He really likes his bunk mate, he is 39 and is a good shoulder for him, watches out for him. They are down to 79 from 88. Said he can't talk about it over the phone but would write me.

I know im rambling but I am on cloud 9! THe phone call was 35 minutes (he doens't have a girlfriend I have to compete with....yeah) and it was over before I knew it.The RDC gives them a few seconds to wrap it up and then it's done. Next time, I am going to write down questions before his next call, becuase you get so caught up in the moment. He said today is 2:5. Next call will be in a few weeks, so I can breathe a little easier. He did say he wrote this week but it was just a few sentences, said that their "free time" isn't free. Most are still working on the ironing, shining, getting ready for inspection and studying, so he said dont be upset by his short letters. One funny note, he said that the only privacy they get is in the bathroom, however, according to him, you shower, poop and pee in front of everyone, so I dont know just how private that is, but he said that thats the only time that they can kinda sorta talk to one another.

KristinaR-how cute that you have your kids trained to listen to the phone. Boy don't their ears hear what ours can't :-)? Here's hoping a phone call comes soon.
