Mine is still in, she reenlisted in Oahu for 4 more years.  This was a hard decision for her, pray that it all works out.

How many of you still have Sailors in the Navy?

Comment by Jackie on August 7, 2013 at 12:23am

Four years ago we were all together as our young adults marched by, what an exciting day for us and them.  I remember the call earlier in the week, "Mom/Dad, I did it I am a US Navy Sailor".  We were proud of her then and now.  Your are correct jboysmom, this has been a roller coaster ride.  I wish all of the Navy Moms and family all the best in the upcoming year.

Hi Ladies,

My son has spent 3 years on a ship and is now doing shore duty in Italy for 3 years.

4 years ago today, my son, was sworn into the US Navy (on his then new wife of 3 weeks' birthday). It has been an exciting roller coaster ride of emotions for this Mom through these past 4 years, but I am oh so proud of my son. He has worked hard and is serving our country well. My son has added new passengers on this Navy roller coaster ride, including a precious little girl, my now 2 year old granddaughter. And there have unfortunately been some that are no longer riding with us - my Mom died suddenly in March.  But through it all, we have stayed a loving family and we're always in support of our son. Bravo Zulu to our sailors!

Hi, ladies.  Very true that the last four years have gone by really fast.  My sailor has now returned from deployment and his ship will be in dry dock for over a year.  He is unsure if he will re-enlist.  His initial commitment was for 5 years, so he's got a little over a year to go.  Here's a cool thing.  I got to go on a Tiger Cruise last month.  When the USS John C. Stennis pulled into Pearl Harbor, I boarded and rode on the carrier back to San Diego.  It was so amazing!  I've gained even more respect for what our men and women in the military service are doing to defend our freedom.

Hello ladies as we nearing the 4 year mark of PIR how many Sailors are reenlisting and how many are doing their 4 and getting out?  Just curious how everyone is doing and what your Sailors plans are. Not sure about the NEX card and I just share a bank account with my Sailor that I can transfer money in as needed and he has a debit card for the account, its always worked for us but I'm not sure about overseas.

Does anybody know if I buy a NEX gift card for my son if it will be something I can reload?  I want to get him one to use while he's in Italy for the next 3 years, but I don't know if I will be able to reload it from here?

Or do any of you have a suggestion for a card I can get him that I can reload from here while he's in Italy?

Joann:  Glad you son is doing well....Tyler is a GM2 stationed in MS, about 2 1/2 hours from home...Currently deployed to the desert until next year...He just re-enlisted for 5 more years...Just praying his next orders don't move him too far from home all the time...Doesn't seem like they've been in 3 1/2 years...Time goes too fast!

Hi ladies!
We were just wondering what date they had their PIR in Chicago, and, of course I found it here!
Wow, I love reading how everyone's sailor is moving along in their navy career.

Doug is currently a FC3 aboard the USS Enterprise, stationed out of Norfolk and currently traveling the middle east. It is due to return home for its decommissioning shortly and my husband and I are going to be on the tiger cruise, going from Jacksonville to Norfolk. I get emails at least weekly from him, but have only talked to him by phone a few times during this deployment. So far, he is really enjoying his navy life and hopes to make a career out of it, too.
