Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailor.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/occupational specialty) and where is she stationed (what vessel, if one)? There may be groups I can direct you to.

Hi Jackie,
I saw your post on our PIR 8-7 group that you are planning to go to P'Cola for your daughter's graduation from A-school later this month. My husband and I went to our son's graduation from A-school there in P'Cola and we are glad we went. Many told us it was not worth the trip, but I feel like you do - anything is worth the trip if we get to see our child! The graduation ceremony is held in a small classroom and is very small and private. We were there with just 1 other mom. We got to sit on the front row and got to talk with our son's instructors and commanders. They were all very nice and talked with us a lot. Our son won an award and it was great to get o see him get that. Afterwards, our son got to take us for a tour of his A-school and we got to eat with him on campus. It was great to get to see where he had been for all those months of A-school. I'm soooo glad we made the trip to see him graduate and I know you will enjoy it as well. Safe travels.
