Three years ago today we all sat in Chicago watching proudly as "Our Sailor" marched by, here's to wishing all Navy Mom's well and hope that all continues to go well with "Your Sailor".
Michigan Cindy I live in Vermilion Ohio about 1 and half hrs east of Toledo, not sure where Holland MI is I will have to google it. I can understand your son not liking Bremerton is he is a motorcyclist, not the best weather there for bikes. I think I saw your name on the Stennis site, I spend more time on facebook then here. Wishing you and your Sailor the best.
My son is stationed in Norfolk, VA and is on the USS Wasp. We moved his wife there after he finished C school and now they have our first grandchild, a daughter that just turned 1 year old. We make a trip to Norfolk to see them about every 3 months and they have made it back to Kentucky twice in the past 3 years. My son is loving the Navy and plans to make a career out of it. He is beginning to look at options for shore duty that will begin in Feb. He wants to go to Washington state, but also is looking at Jacksonville, FL. I'm hoping he stays here on the east coast, but will be happy for him wherever he goes. It will be good for them to get to travel while the baby is still young and not in school yet. I have been reading posts on the Boot Camp Mom's group this week and it is so hard to believe we were all there 3 years ago! Makes me proud to see how far we've come and to read about others from our group. I stay active on my son's ship group and on our Ky Navy Moms group. We get together about twice a year with the Ky Navy Moms and I have grown very close to them. I am still so very thankful for this Navy Moms site and share it with others every chance I get. Blessings to all
Hi, terbeasch. I live near Holland, close to Lake Michigan, in a small town named Zeeland. Jake does not share your son's love of the Bremerton/Seattle area. He would like to go back to California, because it's better for motorcycling there. I think I would really like the Seattle area and would love to go out there and visit. However, I don't think it would be a good idea right now for me to plan anything because Jake is not sure what the Navy is planning for him. Where are you from?
My Sailor is on the USS John C Stennis also, he just advanced to AT2 about a month ago. He married a local gal almost 2 years ago and has a son who just turned 1 on Monday. Joy and Nathan live with me in Vermilion while Joy finishes school and my Sailor finishes this last year of sea quals and one more long deployment. Russ likes Navy life although the seperation from wife and son is hard at times. He loves the Bremerton/Seattle area and has talked about staying on the west coast if he decides to leave the Navy in 2013. I have been out to Seattle 4 times in the last 2 years to visit and can see why he likes the area. Michigan mom where in Michigan are you?
I take a look every once in a while. Tell us where your Sailors are now. My son is assigned to the USS John C. Stennis. He was just advanced to AS2. He seems to really like Navy life, however, does not like life on the ship. Of course, he knew he would spend time on a ship since he joined the NAVY. He doesn't like the long work days and having to wat in line for everything while at sea. All in all, he is doing quite well.
I pop in every once in a while, not many posts, would be nice to hear where everyones Sailor ended up since PIR almost 3 years ago -
Hello all, to see the days go by on our calendar is amazing. Sam is doing well in San Diego working out of Coronado. She lives in Point Loma at the old NTC. She blessed our family with a beautiful little boy. We visit her often and help with childcare. She is trying to get the baby in a daycare on base, they are all full. In the midst of all of this is she is working on her E-5. I have been able to meet some of her friends that are stationed on the various ships that pull into San Diego. I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you sailor is safe whereever they are.
Hi to all, Cindy, the Stennis is where my son is, it is an awesome ship!
