I got my letter this week end and what a welcome sight that was in the mail box. I think it actually took me a minute or two to pick it up. lol  I think I was in shock I was already getting information from my son. I spent the rest of the night on line trying to get the best deal on flights and writing letters to my son. I'm looking forward to chatting with all the wonderful ladies on this site. I think it will make this adjustment that much easier for me.

well this stupid computer is acting up and i am not getting the 'reply to this' in the correct order but you asked how long it would take on the train...leaves at 10:40 pm and arrives Chicago around 9 am. BUT my sister and neices have taken the train from here to new orleans and they say it is never on time. if our son stays at GL for A school i still think the train schedule will be manageable as long as he allows for delays.
Check out my page, there is a lady named Lora on there that makes very nice ribbons to wear..they are blue with an anchor and stars and their name and div is in gold or silver. Lola's ribbons. I just ordered mine.
My boyfriend is Ship 13 Div 321! He's 21,i just joined this site and its already helped so much. i was so excited to finally find some people in the same division I'm already looking foward to PIR!! Have any of you recieved a letter besides the form letter or a phone call yet?
only the form letter BUT grandmaw got a call last saturday night ;)
Lucky grandma!!!
she was sooo excited. our boy tried to call my cell phone but i didn't hear the ringing:( i don't think he'll be much for writing home although he had a stack of postcards and stamps when he left. he's a typical 'guy'...if he had a phone he would be blowing it up sending texts...hehehehehe hope you get to hear from your bf soon!!!
I would be super excited too! and im so sorry you missed that call i would be so bummed but im sure you'll get the next one and hopefully it will be soon:) hahah idk if my boyfriend will be much of a writer either (he would be all over the texting as well lol) being a typical guy too but im keeping my fingers crossed!
Shelby...San Antonio!!! been there loved it (even that is was in July)!!!! i sure hope all of us in our little group get to meet up at GL ;) going to stay up tonight and watch the meteor shower (that is something my boy always loved watching)...will make a wish the BF who stole your heart calls/writes soon ;)
hello to all - my son is PIR on 9/24/2010 on Ship 13 Div 321. You may have chatted with Shelby, she is my son's girlfriend.

I have not received any letters, from my son or even the form letter!!! I did finally receive my soninthebox. That was an emotional experience - to get his empty cowboy boots!!! This site has been very helpful since I did not spend anytime with the recruiter, etc. prior to our son leaving for basic. I look forward to meeting all of you on 9/24!!!!
Hi there marmayes, I got my sons form letter but no box. He said he was just going to have them throw away anything he took that he couldn't keep. I'm pretty grateful for that. I'm not sure how well I would have done seeing the box. Although I do have a garage full of his stuff now. I've been putting off repacking it for him (you know how biys are at packing lol) but I think I have no choice but to do it this week end. I hope you get your form letter soon, I will chat with you later.
I know exactly what you mean about "re-packing" all his stuff!!!! I did the same thing. That made me feel better actually, I hope it is not too difficult for you. Have not received anything other than his box as of yet - no letter, no form letter, no call........................i am getting anxious and worried. He is not much of a writer but at this point, i would take a "Hey, I'm good" note :(

Have you made your reservations yet for PIR? I am planning to do that today, I think. I am struggling with what to do since I have not received my form letter yet.
Thanks for letting me know that it actually made you feel better to repack your sons stuff, I still haven't done it. I know when I open the boxes/bags it will all smell like him, just not sure I'm ready for that part.
So still no information letter for you? I have actually heard several other moms say the same thing but the more seasoned moms are telling them not to worry. It sounds like if it's bad you get a phone call. Maybe your letter just got hung up in the mail. Goo luck, I hope you get your information pack soon.
