Welcom Navy Loved ones! This site is so helpful for support and finding information and sharing information. Being a Navy Mom and Wife is such an honor. It isn't always easy to wait to hear from them, or to know that they have been, or will be in harms way, but we couldn't be more proud of our boys. The youngest boy said recently, "it feel pretty awsome to be part of something so big, and respected"... He is still in boot camp... My oldest has served three years and is a wonderful young man, who now believes serving their country is something all young men should do. We are so proud of all of our NAVY sons, husbands, daughters and wifes, boyfriends and girlfriends... Please share, ask questions, and enjoy the support provided by Navy for Moms.

I took my son's box of belongings upstairs to my bedroom when it came. It has been sitting in the middle of the floor since then and for some reason I just can't bring myself to take it to his room. It somehow makes me feel closer to him to look at it several times a day. No tears just overwhelming pride and joy that my 'baby' although a man when he left is now doing it on his own.

Well we are not moving as a family, i am moving his room. he is my oldest of 3 and got the biggest bedroom. and now that he is gone and my oldest daughter is gone to college, i am left with an almost 12 yo at home. so i told her we would switch hers and his room around, since she's the only one there. so that's why i wanted his stuff packed up. but looks like i'll have a bit of work to do to get that done.

I nagged my son for at least two months, to get his things cleaned up and packed, as we will be moving before too long, and I didn't think I should be the one to pack his belongings! So a couple days before he left, he got his girlfriend to come over and they did pack up most of his things. There will still be plenty left for me to pack and then move! I hope that when he comes home, if he IS neat, I don't go into cardiac arrest!! : )

Believe me your child that left will no longer be a messy adult. I could not believe it when my son actually hung up his uniform when he changed (they can wear civilian clothes in the hotel room). It was fun to see how he now folds his shirts (just to put them back in the box I took for him).

Dorothy, tht is ok.......because your description of your son fits my son to a T. I actually helped him clean up some (a very small some) stuff the day he left for the hotel.

JDsMom, No thanks needed. I don't know what I would have done without this website last week. Every time I go back & read about them saying good bye this week, think about how I felt & how all the Moms helped me thru. Us MOMs have to Stick together! :)

SimplyJRB, my son isn't a neat person either. so that will be a nice change to see..lol i had been after him for a month before he left to put stuff away in his room. i had even gotten him some boxes for stuff. well he managed to put stuff in the boxes, but that was about it. he still had clothes he had never put away....good grief! lol

SimplyJRB - My thanks to you, too. You and others here have helped me through some rough patches. No tears for me when the box came. I did note that the pants legs were rolled up, and everything just stuffed into the box with his "usual care"! : ) The only things he was careful with were his cell phone and sunglasses. Both packed into his shoes and cushioned by his socks. I'm looking forward to seeing if the Navy can make him a neat person. I sure never managed it!

I go back to the Dep leaving in Aug usually each day & check in there. Some days it is hard to keep up. Yesterday was hard, with more leaving; I was crying.....But then I think that was me last week. So I try to reassure them.
