Welcom Navy Loved ones! This site is so helpful for support and finding information and sharing information. Being a Navy Mom and Wife is such an honor. It isn't always easy to wait to hear from them, or to know that they have been, or will be in harms way, but we couldn't be more proud of our boys. The youngest boy said recently, "it feel pretty awsome to be part of something so big, and respected"... He is still in boot camp... My oldest has served three years and is a wonderful young man, who now believes serving their country is something all young men should do. We are so proud of all of our NAVY sons, husbands, daughters and wifes, boyfriends and girlfriends... Please share, ask questions, and enjoy the support provided by Navy for Moms.

Josh'sMom - isn't nice to finally know you can make travel arrangements! Please consider bringing a GPS or renting one with your rental car. I don't usually splurge for those upgrades, but for $11.95 a day, it saved us HOURS not getting lost and what was more important - my husband and I didn't argue about which way to go. That was priceless!

I received my form letter and his box of belongs today. Since I now have his address and graduation date, I mailed his first batch of letters this afternoon and made my airline reservations. Next its the hotel.

Welcome Cody'sMom & ochaos!

ochaos - I am on too many groups to remember if there is anyone else here (yet) who has a son in the Special Ops division (820), but you can start a discussion above for that Division. That way they will see it when they finally find this group! Did you know that the other name for this division is called "The Body Snatchers"??? It's because these are also the same guys who slide around all the rows of new sailors during the PIR ceremony, they are ready to "catch" them if they fall down, Standing in formation for 1 1/2 hrs can make legs go numb and they don't want anyone passing out. LOL... When I saw these guys at my son's graduation, it looked like they were bad guys starring down our new sailors and it made me mad, until someone told me why they were there! So I am grateful for the 800 division groups!!!

Hi, glad to have found this group. Wish I had one like this when my oldest went into the Air Force 8 years ago. Any other moms of Ship 4 Div 820?
Thank you for all of the wonderful info on this site and from those of you that have been there before us. My letter arrived on Sat. and sent a letter to my son today.

Hi Sobe,

I have asked my darling daughter that in one of my letters...with the intention of filling in on that role for him/her. I will pass on the info when she writes me. :)

thanks for all your help.

Can you guys ask your recruits if there is someone in their division who is not receiving any mail? It happens more often than you realize. I've been writing to several recruits since my son graduated and most of them are almost done with bc, so I need some more pen pals! If you want to speed the process up, I can write a couple of "Dear Recruit" letters to send to your own recruit now, so they can pass them out if they are needed. You would need to send me your recruits name & address via the inbox, then I will write your recruit a short note telling them why the letters are enclosed (so they don't think I'm a crazy person!). I don't do this for pat's on the back, I do it because I know it makes a difference in a young person's life - and the rewards are endless. Some of the letters these recruits have written back to me are priceless! Let me know, friend me first.

MelandEli - If you decide to change names on his list, Eli needs to submit this change as soon as possible. I believe the cut off is 2 wks before PIR. Now, you may think that's a long way off, but contrary to most of a new PIR groups beliefs, boot camp really does fly by faster than you think (I know I'm going to get remarks on that comment!!!).

Thank you Sobe...I will see what Eli will do. :)
