Hi Marilyn! Glad you are still here even though Jordan is out! That's great he's doing something he loves to do. And he will make an awesome nurse!
Moving to Florida? Where in Fl?
Your life is very busy by the sounds of it raising your Goddaughter. Sounds like all your kids are spread all over the states!
Good to hear from you and read what is going on in your life. Is there only 2 of us left on here?
Hello all! I was looking at all my groups and wondered who might still be left in Navy Moms. I'm sure for some who had sailors that had signed for just 4 years those sailors have moved on or re upped. So I decided to see who all might be left! What is everyones son been up to? Where are they now? Mine is deployed to the Pacific Ocean. Will be gone for almost 10 months. He got married at a court house to a young lady he's known for 8 years before they both left. She is in the Army and also deployed as a Flight Medic.
This is his second deployment. He's on the USS Carl Vinson a Carrier.
So…let's hear from who's left!
Thanks Marilyn. Those dreams seem to be more in the distance now! I've got 5 weeks left of this semester and I'm just flat out tired. Need a break.
That's wonderful that Jordan wants to be a nurse. Good for him! He's such a caring person that he needs to be in a career where he can use that compassion. He will make a good nurse!
Your oldest grandbaby is 5??? Where has the time gone? Hard to imagine that Tyler is old enough to be in college already.
It would be great to get together. Once school is out I will have time to breath again. We MUST find a date to do something! So much to catch up on. It was good hearing where all your kids are at.
Hi, friends!
GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU, Lori! You are a smart lady and it's awesome to hear how well you are doing reaching for your dreams! ♥ I know you will do well in biology and Chemistry - but I will say a quick prayer for you too!
So happy Paul is doing well! I'm sure he's had some great adventures. Crazy that it's been 4 years! WOW!!! We need to get caught up soon!
I'm still on here (I had started a group for the Okinawa sailors, so I have stayed on to keep that group rolling!)
Jordan is doing well. He will start nursing school in the fall here in Northern VA. He is working with a young man who has some special needs and going to school to get many of his basic classes out of the way. He has his moments when he is frustrated with how things turned out - but he is getting more and more to a place where he knows GOD has a plan and he's just focused on the next steps.
Our other kids are doing well. Oldest granbabie is 5 and will be starting school in the fall. (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!) Have the 3 year old and 2 year old grandbabies...and no more on the way for now! :) Our youngest son - Tyler is going to JMU in the fall for his sophomore year and studying Comp Sci. He still wants to be an Air Force pilot and also work in the Intel field...so we'll see how it all comes together.
Cliff (hubby) retired from the Coast Guard last summer and he's doing pretty well. Having to still make some adjustments with his goals and "what he wants to be when he grows up", but he has a good job and we are making plans for the next steps.
I'm still at the same job and things are going well. Staying busy and mostly out of trouble! It would be lovely to get together some day and chat in person!
Please keep the updates coming!
Be blessed - Marilyn
Terrie, hard to imagine it's been 4 years since our boys went off to boot camp. I knew it was in April, right after Easter but I just saw on a FB post from my son's friend [who was in his division as well as he's on his ship] that it's 4 years today. Wow. Paul has 2 more years to go now. He's out on the water now but it's just a work up. Deployment for 9 months is coming up.
Reading the last time I posted [a year ago!] it makes me laugh. I thought algebra was hard...Biology/chemistry is no walk in the park I can tell you! I actually got a B for my final grade in Math. I will be happy if I can pass this semester.
So how are your sailors? We've had a really bad year so far with losses of our guys. Latest one was in Norfolk. How is everyone doing? It would be great to get a recap of this past year and what everyone has been up to. Thanks Terrie for checking in!
Marilyn, so sorry that Jordan never got to do what he really wanted to do. He is a remarkable young man and whatever the next step in his life will be he will shine in that.
Your life is full and it was nice reading about where all your kids are at and what is going on in your life.
Terrie- I am filled with more motivation than smarts! Math is what will kick me under I think. All the other classes I can do with a lot of hard work. Algebra is my arch enemy and after failing my test today I'm thinking it might have the best of me. The brain is old!
Sorry Chris hasn't been able to do the traveling that he wanted. Seems things just aren't what were advertised when our guys were in BC.
Jill- I agree with you about the door closing and another opening. I can't imagine the worry you must have gone through when your Chris was in Afghanistan. So glad he's back from there! Have you gotten to see much of him since he's been back?
When Paul was out to sea and was over in the Straits of Hormez I didn't really think about any danger until Dan Rather did a news report about the Vinson. He and his crew were on the ship filming and when I watched it I couldn't rest until I knew the ship had left those waters. Paul did get to see some different countries and liked that but he didn't like the months at sea much.
It's amazing how fast the last three years have passed. I hope the next year will go just as fast.
Chris went to Whidbey Island, Washington after school (no deployments) and they told him he would have to stay another two years before he could get new orders. He really wanted to travel and thats not going to happen as long as he's at Whidbey. I know it's God's plan, but getting my sailor to believe that is another story.
I've also heard of Sailors getting out up to a year early.
Marilyn, I think Bangor is near Seattle(near Whidbey Island also) join the Washington n4m group they are very helpful. Also I have a Navy friend who has friends near that base if he needs anything let me know and I can make a few phone calls. I will keep Jordan in our prayers as he makes the transition back into the civilian world.
Lori- I wish I had your motivation to go back to school. Congrats!
Navy Mom Hugs to you all!
Terrie
