tours for all! Just say the word ;) and we have extra rooms if y'all want to stay with us too. Can't promise a fancy breakfast but I can do the rest!

THANKS LORI! I'm hardly B*arbie! But I love taking people on adventures! Some day I think I could do that for a job. As long as I get to pick the people and make up the fun places to show them. Perfect!

As far as hotels, we stayed at the Residence Inn in Waukegan and it was wonderful....however with that said, we did pay a little bit more because we put off booking. BUT...they offered a full complimentary breakfast and also have social nights M-Thurs. We had a one room suite with a mini kitchen, sleeper sofa and a desk with wifii, etc. It worked out well for all of us to spread out in and gave C a chance to catch up on his computer and such. They do offer Navy deals if you book ahead. WELL WORTH IT!! We ended up going through Priceline and paid more since they had bought up a block of rooms. DONT DELAY LIKE ME - BOOK AHEAD because you can always cancel AND you will not be disappointed. Near shopping and restaurants too! You can't beat it.

Thanks Marilyn.....we really enjoyed our weekend too and meeting your lovely family. With a little bit of spunk, I might add! Gotta have fun in life though. And how true the Blackhawks are still up by one! Wayne is almost ready to admit, dare I say, defeat. Guess the Flyers are just not up to pare. But.....ya gotta BELIEVE!!!!! IT COULD HAPPEN!

Candy - I was going to say the same thing! We are so close that my husband and I actually WORK in DC - so we're here all the time. My husband worked with the White House for about 3 years (it was a military position) so he may be of some help/use if your son needs any one to talk to or ask questions of. OR if he just wants to have people to hang out with and go see sights...I LOVE THAT! I've been called Tour Guide B*RBIE (I'm not wild about the name - it's pretty cheesy!) but I love to go see things and have adventures. And I know my 23 and 15 year old would enjoy having a new person to hang out and show around too. And like Lori - our door is always open! Maybe we could even SHARE YOU!

Sorry I didn't get to spend time chatting with you - but maybe you'll make it down to the DC area and we'll get a chance!

Have a terrific day and hope to see you soon,
~marilyn~

Candy- that's great girl! You know I live not to far from Arlington and DC!!! So my door is wide open if you need a place to stay!
That is so awesome he loves what he's doing. Congrats to him and your family.
Wish we could have had time to chat longer- maybe in real person!

I finally got a call last night- connection on the pay phone wasn't that great. Said he's in an older dorm room with someone who has been there a while. So Dawn you are right about them putting the 'newbies' in with the older ones.
They have to get up at 4:30am- crazy! And he said they will have some classes while being INDOC. Then on to ATT- all this jargon is taking some getting used to! But it does seem discouraging that there is such a long hold for them before they can actually START.
He'll be able to pick his phone and lap top up at a family's house that is holding it for him. We couldn't talk for long as he had to 'muster'!
It was good to hear from him though.
Dawn- he didn't seem to know when he was going to be moved but he did give me an address for where he is at now.

QUESTION- how are you all sending your sailors things? Is there a military rate and if so how do we get it?
