Thanks Jamel....too early for mail today but I am remaining hopeful.

NASmom - have not heard about the Navy Lodge. We are staying at the Residence Inn. I think some of the more experienced moms may have some idea if you check out BootCamp Moms. I think there is a lot of discussion regarding the hotels. Or you could do a search for the Navy Lodge and see what comes up.

Linda and BarrysGF - That's wonderful!!! How lucky you guys are and I am thrillled for you! I am so afraid that Chris will get to call and it will be the one times that I don't have my phone glued to my right hip. Are your recruits on the same ship?? And do you know if this was the 3 week scheduled call or a reward? Thanks for passing along any info! Have a great Saturday...and to those of us that are waiting for our first letters.....I am keeping my fingers crossed for all.....let us know how everyone makes out...I will have my face pressed up against the window like a kid at a candy shop waiting so patiently(NOT) for the mail. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

I received a phone call from my son today. He is doing fine. I almost missed it. I was on the phone at work and couldn't pick up my cell. He left a message and said he would call back if he could. I was almost in tears!! He did call back in about 10 minutes. It was so good to hear his voice. He says it is harder than he expected but his making it. He said he had received several letters and had sent out a few. I am excited to get the next one that should be here soon. Just wanted to share.

ColoAustinsMom - I just read one of your posts and am so sorry that Austin is having a tough transition. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for the strenght to get through this and to carry on. One day at a time. I know it is tough on all the kids but I am sure that some are having a harder time than others. Each person is different. We have not had a letter so I am not sure how Chris is holding up. Sometimes not knowing is I guess, easier. Stay strong and here's hoping that your next letter will have better news. Just remind him that it is all a mental game and to take nothing personal. It is hard but just remember that the RDC doing the yelling was once in his boots not too long ago! And it is their job. Nothing more. It is not personal. He will be the same person shaking your sons hand and giving him his sailor cap when he gets through these weeks. And soon it will be in the past. He just needs to hang on and just focus on why he joined. Stay strong mom!

Yes, welcome Jamel. It seems like you and your girlfriend are our Ship 07/'Div 197's lifeline for the week. Its awful what she had to go through but great that she was able to face her fear. How courageous of her. Her reward for doing so, did not only give her a chance to speak to you, her mom but now through you, us Navy Moms/GFs. You have given us now the reason why we have not received any mail. And I am so grateful for that.... as still today.....no mail in Florida. :( Ugh!!! I thought for sure I would have at least one letter by today. But now I know why and we have both you and your girlfriend to thank. And to all the other moms/girlfriends that have joined since I have last been posting....welcome and from reading all of the conversations, I can tell that we have a truly wonderful and special group of ladies/gents here. I feel so much strenght and hope just from reading everyone's words. We CAN and WILL do this....as will our recruits. Just when I think that this is too hard, I just think of what these kids are enduring...and as I have said before, we may THINK we have it rough but they are walking the walk and facing their fears, finding courage and determination that they possibley never knew they had EACH AND EVERY DAY. Soooo, I will just wait patiently for our letter to arrive and just pray that Chris and all the recruits keep up their strenght through this journey. And for a letter tomorrow! ;)
