Alana, My son is also in ship 14/div 196. I got a very short but sweet letter yesterday. He wrote it while he was in church. I knew before he left that the members in our church on base would supply him with paper, envelopes and stamps so the kids can write while there so I encouraged him when he could to go to church. He didn't give me much information but sounded okay. He did say he might be able to call soon and will only write on Sunday.

And yes the first letter is as good as they say.......AMAZING!!!

Hi Kim!
Sounds like your boy planned well, and knew what to expect. I heard some stories of kids wearing old clothes and just throwing them away. I don't know about the charity angle. Those folks who have gotten letters may have updates to share-

Hi Schellie-
I'm guessing that Aus' GF will get a letter before I do, but 7?!? Your boy can write! We did not use the MWR site for travel stuff, probably because I forgot to tell my husband. We booked directly with Frontier and the Comfort Inn in Gurnee Mills. I had to email the recruiter to find out about the G&G thing. He was able to provide the information.

My son's girlfriend got 7 letters today and none for his mom :( oh well I am sure he will send me one soon. Has anyone used the MWR site for airline tickets? I live in Washington State and looking to fly in on the 26th. How would I know if my son is a Grad and Go?

Yes I could bearly read it. It was very sloppy and pretty short. He just wanted to be sure we knew when PIR was, and his butt hurt from the shots. He said the first couple of days they didn't get much sleep, he really sounded positive.
