Think of it this way. Your son(s and daughters) are moving into a new future as strong, mature adults who will be able to handle anything. If they can handle Battle Stations we ought to be able to handle a box of dirty clothes.

Hang in there, Jordan'sMom. We're all in this with you-

Just got a call from my youngest son - "the box" arrived. I'm already feeling sad and not sure how it's going to be to actually see it. Today's been tough for some reason already. Praying it will not hurt as bad as I'm afraid it will.

I did find out if there is anyone who is active duty or retired military - there are spaces available at the Navy Lodge just off base for 5/27-5/30.

Just a little FYI: Milwaukee airport is a much nicer and less busy airport and the drive to GL from there is really easy and you avoid Chicago.......

Thanks Nanon!
This is good info on the flights. I will be flying from the Washington DC area - so I will look into it.

Also - I don't know if Nanon is your "real name" -but my little grandgirl calls me "Nonnie" and this reminded me of it!

all the best today and here's to hoping all Jennifer and the others have to complain about TODAY is tired feet!! :)

My daughter Jennifer is in Ship 7 Div 197. I got the form letter from the her and the Navy yesterday. I was expecting a comment like this sucks more than I thought it would or the one son that wrote this is 100 times harder than they said it would be. But, no, my daughter's comment was "Mom, my feet hurt. I love you." I decided if that was all she had to complain about she must be doing ok.

I watched Jennifer's 2 year old daughter Sunday from 2-9 while her dad was working. If Jennifer has the stamina to keep up with a busy 2 year old, she should get through this just fine. I am still recovering.

I looked into airfare the other day. If you don't min driving a little further Milwaukee, Wisconsin had cheaper flights that Chicago, and you can avoid all that traffic in a city you don't know.

Oh yea...and there is a group for SHIP 07/DIV 197 if anyone wants to join!

Very excited to have a PIR date! YEAH! And there was a bit more information on the address then what the recruiter gave me earlier. ALSO GOOD.
I wanted to suggest that Sidestep is a great place to look for flights and hotels. It is a seach engine that also searches OTHER search engines!! sidestep.com
I have to admit that Jordan's letter made me more sad than happy because he "sounded" sad and missing us. I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW that this is all part of the process...but my mommy heart hurt reading it. Tomorrow "the box" should arrive. FedEx left me a note.

all the best
~marilyn~

PS...Jordan is in - Ship 07, Division 197

Thanks Rebecca_ I had missed that from Lauriel. I was beginning to feel alone in this huge enterprise! And thanks for the suggestion- I will write that in my next letter.
