I got a call today.. it would have been longer, but by my fault the calling card ran out. It docks 20 mins every time a call is placed. He called home, no answer, he called my cell, no answer, he called my parent's, they answered to tell him I was with my sister, he called my sister, no answer and then finally he reached me on my cell ( I turned it to vibrate for church this am and forgot to put it back on REALLY LOUD like it has been for the past 3 weeks and that is why I missed the call) So, our short but sweet little talk was 3 minutes :( I miss him extra today. :( But, thankfully everything is still going smooth... yay for 25 almost 24 days!

I just got Derecks call home. It was a whole 5 minutes. He sounded good and upbeat. Worried about the next 23 tests he has to do and mostly battlestations. All the boys are scared about battlestations. It was so great to hear his voice! I am on cloud 9!
Nita, welcome! I too have a son that graduates PIR the same day as your daughter. PIR is going to be soooo awesome! Feel free to jump in any time- these ladies are wonderful at offering advice and also being a great shoulder when we need it!

lol I will have to tell him about the eggs... his exact words were "I am worried if the drugs will wear off or is it permanent? God help me!" Im sure it would be a scary thought for a 19 yr old. also said "Really, the RDC's delight in causing us pain, no really mom!" another funny thing he said "I would prefer to have a nice girl to look at, there is too much "hanging" around here." an dlast but not least, "I dont get to go anywhere over night for liberty weekend. that sucks, no visiting family, no bars, no girls, no fun, no freedom, no life."

I can't believe they actually give that to him, my son has not mentioned anything about that!

LOL 8 counts. My son brought those up too. He said boot camp isnt so bad, all he needs is air, water and 8 counts! Little sarcasm never hurts! It was nice to get his letter. He said more than anything he would love to have a nice girl to look at, but was upset that he couldnt do anything with her due to the meds they give them. Very worried that those meds will never wear off.... This is a sensitive subject, but note to wives- dont expect everything to "work properly" when you see your man at PIR

I am so glad I found this group, it is nice to see others are feeling the same. It is a little comforting knowing I am not alone. I received a call on Wed and a letter on Thurs. The call was up and down, he is homesick but doing well He said the food is good. I have not heard anything about dental work.

yay I finally got a letter from Dereck. He wasnt able to call home because he was getting his wisdom teeth out and doesnt think he will get another chance to call. He did get to call his recruiter for some more information they needed and he asked her to call me and tell me that he loved and missed us. That made my day.
