It is amazing how much nicer 27 days sounds instead of 28...

I missed the phone call yesterday unfortunately I was at work. Silly me I go in early to get the extra hours and miss a very important phone call! I was kicking myself yesterday. One of my coworkers said though that, "that is what happens when you date a military guy." Hopefully I'll get something from him soon. In his message he said he misses home and he hope all is well. Didn't really get much. Needless to say my phone will not be staying in one of my lockers. It will be on me 24/7 I am determined to get that next phone call. In the meantime hope for a letter. Hope all is well with everyone. :) Enjoy your day!

wow, I am honored that they would take the time to read these posts...lol. I guess they would want to see what the recruits are writing home about. I love that all my hubby's letters are upbeat and positive... no RDC bashing here! :)

Oh yeah, parents, don't get me wrong. I can not even imagine what you are going through having your babies separated from you not knowing what they are going through and if they are ok. It has got to be making you all just as crazy if not more crazy. They are your babies!

Courtney,
I have no clue about A school. When she was at MEPS the first time to sign the Chief gave her a list of 6 places she could go. The recruiters said she would more than likely go to Pensacola. I would be willing to guess they don't know and she could go anywhere. She enlisted in AV, but that breaks up into AE and AT and she wont know which she gets until A school. Truthfully, when I signed up in DEP back in 91 I knew what I would be doing and where I would be going even when I signed up for DEP. I hadn't even graduated high school and knew I would be in Germany after my AIT (Army A school basically). Kind of frustrating since we are married and don't know where or when we will be moving and I have to try and sell a house and find a new job and well, I could go on for days. I kind of wish I was a parent going through this. No worries about having to move and change their entire lives, but hey, I knew what we were getting into and I guess I have no reason to complain so I will stop now! Just waiting for the paperwork to get here and for that first paycheck, even if it will be tiny!

b rickard- Sorry I should have said, " so, expect more letters ladies and gentleman!" :) I have not received my DEERS packet yet, I was hoping it was coming today, but maybe tomorrow? It is the most agonizing time right now, I agree. Where will your wife be going to A school and for what?

my wife finally called also. Courtney, same here. She said she had 30 minutes and my cell phone said 16 when I heard the RDC yell at them to get going! Oh well, at least I know she is with the living, barely. They must all be really sick over there. I could barely recognize my wifes voice, she sounded terrible but was in ok spirits. I cannot wait until this agonizing time of our lives is over!
For the spouses out there, has anybody received their DEERS packet yet??

I got a phone call today also! :) At one point I felt shorted cause he said it was going to be 30 mins and it was only 22. Then, I snapped out of it and said "yahoo, he called me!" He sounded so good! He passed all of his tests and is "lying low and staying quiet" which is so his personality anyway. I gave him ample time to talk to the kids and then he was off. :( He said next week they'll be able to write 3 times a week instead of just Sundays. So, expect more letter ladies!

Well I'm joining you ladies on Cloud 9!!! I got a letter & a phone call!!! I agree it was wonderful to hear his voice! I really needed that call and I could tell that he needed it too. He got his wisdom teeth out on the 20th and had his birthday on the 21st with swollen jaws... He said it will be better when the whole division starts doing what they're told. I've heard that same thing alot on here... All in all, he sounded good, upbeat and positive, just tired and I could tell he really misses home...and he misses the dog ALOT!!! He must have asked about her 3 or 4 times..... I'm so glad to read on here that there were lots of letters and calls so far.... Just 28 more days!!!!

Colleen - you made me cry - that is so nice. One of the things that mu son wrote in his letters is that he and a few others pray together every night and that he is going to chapel on Sunday. It says it helps him keep his head on straight. (Hooray - something we taught him has stuck!!) BIG NEWS - I got a call this afternoon!!!!!!!! He has a cold (just like everyone else!) but was feeling okay. WHile he recovered from the wisdom teeth procedure - he was still experiencing quite a bit pain. He is supposed to go get it checked out tomorrow. He was a little ( well alot ) upset with his division (sound familiar) because there are 4-5 that just refuse to get their act together and is messing it up for the whole division. Sad news - his bunkmate was given the heave-ho due to a failed psych eval. On the other hand, He LOVES getting our letters/cards - he said they get him through the tough times. I started to tell him to stay strong, how PROUD I am of him and that I can't wait to see him but of course, I started to cry and so did he. But we were able to exchange I love yous!!!! So now I can go on vacation with some peace of mind that I did not miss his call!!
