I got a letter from my bf last night. Thank goodness. He says that he misses home incredibly and not to forget him, as if that could really happen. He says the boys in his bunk talk to much and if they keep going how they are at the time he wrote the letter that things were going to get worse for them. He wrote the letter in that first couple of days, he said it was boring. I'm sure that changed fast. He has gotten a huge load of homework at night that he has to keep up on. He came down with a cold unfortunately, but he wont mention it to the ROC's because he doesn't want his grad date to get prolonged. He kept mentioning that he graduates Feb. 26th if all goes well, I'm pretty sure he is counting down just as much as his mom and I are.

Debbie, I can totally relate. I had to go out of town last week and was worried about missing a letter. One came in while I was gone and I was just a mess until I got back even though my family read it to me over the phone. I just had to read it amd see it myself. My son is in the 915 division, some of which have gotten to make calls and some havent, therefore I am anxiously waiting for that call. My phone goes with me everywhere, even to the bathroom, when I shower, the tanning bed, etc. I cant wait til I see my son at PIR!

Good Morning All: So happy to hear that some of us have rec'd letters and phone calls from our recruits!! I have not rec'd anything additional from my son since last report ( a letter) BUT the sweet thing is he wrote his grandmother!! My family is spread out all over the country so tele-communications has been a god-send!! He wrote his grandma a short letter, telling her he was fine, lovin' it and has met some great guys. He also told her that he has been yelled only 2x (for a messy rack I think!) and overall from what he was seeing others go through that wasn't too bad!
Now here is something I think you all will find kind of funny - my husband & I are leaving this evening for a vacation - long planned - and I wish we weren't going cuz I might miss a letter or call from our son!!! Ugggghhh

I got 3 letters today! No phone call :( My husband tells me how much he loves us and that he thinks about us all the time. This is funny.. his bunkmate and other friend that is in the bunk next to him call him "Pops." He thinks it is be/c of his age (32) and also b/c he is the first one to fall asleep at night even if there is a lot of noise. But, thankfully he prepared extensively for the PT and can do more sit-ups than both of them, he said they were impressed, lol. On Tuesday they had a locker inspection and tests on first aid, uniform and grooming, ranks and UCMJ (I don't know what that stands for). His spirits were high. :) Yay!

Debbie, When they get "beat" it means they have to work out like doing jumping jacks for 3 hours, or chair sitting in the middle of the room, like squats. The RDC's make them work out til they drop.

Welcome b rickard! I was told my sons division was at the phone bank making calls, but I did not receive a call today. Maybe tomorrow. I am trying to be hopeful. If not, tomorrow is the day the letters come in soooo...

Oh hallmom - I am so happy for you!!! SO good to hear form your guy - isn't it? Now your son and my son ARE in the same ship/div - my son has commented that he has met some great guys - I am hoping our two have met. I read on the navy website that this week is really hard - I think they are really deep into the academics and there is a lot to learn!
Please know that tonight my blue candle burns for all of our recruits!! We have come this far - no one should be denied now!
