Oh by the way, bring long johns and thermal undergarments! Tonight is the start of a deep freeze again and it is supposed to move slowly through to the east over the week/weekend. When I say cold, the weatherman said tonight with windchill -10!!!

I didn't want to say any names.

I just don't want anybody to get mad because some of us are not in the same situation and we cannot all be lumped into the same group.

I can tell you more stories, yet true, of stuff people are told before joining.

Like the time the recruiter and MEPS told me that if I sign up when I get to my unit they will let me go to Airborne Ranger school and so I signed up and when I got to my first duty station in Germany my 1ST SGT told me that what I just said was funny as hell and now son you are here for the next 2 years and no you are not going to Airborne school or Ranger school. So, well, I guess my dad could have slapped me upside the head, but I still believe I did the right thing. Just with a bitter pill to swallow and a bitter taste in my mouth!

Or the time the recruiter told my wife that the Navy doesn't send sailors out to sea longer than a few weeks or a month because the government doesn't have the money to spend on long deployments! Hmmm, since I believed he was telling me the truth my wife made up her mind that she would join!

I can keep going if anybody likes!! My point being, we are not all created equal and join the military for different reasons and complaining about it helps! Ask anybody that joined and served their time.

Sorry ladies, what was posted has really struck a sour cord in my gut because I have been there once and I am going through it as a spouse now and this time I should have been more educated about it but I guess I will learn as I go, again!

Hey Monica -
I've been watching the weather myself... Let's all hope and pray that the snow ends soon or maybe better, melts away....

Try and get some rest and think positive ...

Ok children - I left for a little while and you all started fighting! For what it is worth - I am a true proponent of personal accountability - nobody owes you anything - you have to work for it and you alone are responsible for yourself and your actions.

There I said it - had to.

SO where do we go from here? Let's appreciate the support and good humor that we have afforded each other over the past few weeks.

Safe travels to those who are on the road or the skies already and to those who are preparing to travel. Many, many good wishes to our sailors who are preparing for BS21 the next two days. And looking forward to meeting the parents/spouse/significant others of these amazing people.
